i'd go with chavez oscar relied more on physical attributes-size early in his career, and speed/fluidity as he moved up in weight and class. technically he was sound but that was never his bread and butter chavez, watching him against taylor, haughen and the first half against rosario was a very sound technician with economy of movement, ring generalship and the ability to cut off the ring instantly. he was very, very composed and used subtle skills that kept him in the game well after his physical prime was over
Don't think many, if any, will pick Oscar here. I certainly can't see it, but would like to hear a good case being made for ODLH. Any takers?
You think? Fluidity isn't something I think of when I think Oscar. He is quite rigid. They should be rounded up and made infertile, then killed.
Chavez was in my opinion. DLH wasn't as well rounded with his righthand. He had the height and reach that Chavez didnt have, but Chavez had a better arsenal of punches. I think DLH did more with less if thats any consolation.
absolutely right in terms of movement and style but his punching at 147/154 was fluid. from what i've seen he would bounce into position (rigidly) then throw brilliant combinations. if his opponents had faster hands (mosley) or better movment (pacquia) he was ****ed
Chavez was a masterful infighter... Hoya could never sustain an infight like Chavez could. ergo, Chavez was a far superior technician.
don't forget timing, defense, generalship and economy of punches. i'm a BIG oscar fan but he's nowhere near chavez in these departments
