The Duran that fought Hagler. Who would you give Duran the best chance against?

    Mike McCallum
    Gerald McClellan
    Sumbu Kalambay

    McClellan.
I dont know if Duran wins, but I'd rate his chances better than against the other two.

I'd give him the least chance against Kalambay.

I wouldn't fancy him to beat any of them.

But I think he'd have the best chance against McClellan. Not that it's a particularly good chance. McClellan was just so big and powerful at middle.

I wouldn't give him much chance at all vs McCallum or Kalambay.

I will go with Kalambay, I know he was a master boxer but maybe Duran lands a good shot and ices him early like Michael Nunn did. McCallum was 2 good, and had a granite chin, McClellan was 2 big and would have tore him apart, if Duran could make it through early he would have a shot then but I dont see it happening.

I'd say Kalambay. He did have skills, but no power. I'm thinking if Duran goes the distance like I think he would, he just might get the nod.

His chances against Kalambay are slim and none, and slim just died of erotic asphyxiation similar to David Carradine, so he was never much to rely on anyway.

I'd give him a good chance of at least holding his own with McCallum, at 154 or 160. That would be an interesting battle, in my opinion. Of course McCallum was the better fighter at the weights, but the styles would make this one a chess match, in my opinion.

McClellan is difficult to call. He's so much larger and more powerful, but at the same time so inferior technically that it's really a pick 'em.

McClellan. The other two guys were master boxers and much bigger than Roberto. Duran would have a chance to pull off a Barkley type boxing lesson vs Gerald but not against the other 2 guys.

That was the only time Kalambay was ever KOd in the ring. Duran had no KO power at MW. I think it's safe to say Robert has almost zero chance of knocking him out.

The Duran that fought Hagler has a very good chance against all of them.

He was punching pretty heavy against Barkley. Mccallum was never knocked out period! Mcclellan was way 2 big, he was near 180 for alot of his fights he would walk right over Duran. So like I said I will go with the lighter hitting Kalambay, he was a boxer and so like I said I give Duran the best shot here. For the record I don't think he beats any of them.

Funny, I was actually going through a fantasy bout with Duran and McCallum in my mind at work today,,,Duran can't match his strength or power but still shades him with some good close up boxing and short punches, especially to the head, down the stretch.

To be fair, his best accomplishment at middleweight is a razor close decision over a mediocre Barkley and losing to Hagler. The biggest event at 154lbs was getting knocked out by Hearns and losing to Benitez and Kirkland Laing.

But this is Duran, so despite McClellan, Kalambay and McCallum being bigger and better than Barkley, Duran still stands a good chance.:happy

Of course, these three would have just whooped Hagler.
