Out of your group of friends are you the only one who likes boxing?

Or die hard between your friends? Because sadly out of my friends im the only one who is a hardcore boxing fan and its a struggle to pool in my friends for a PPV fight. Ask my friends who Pacquiao is or Hatton, Pavlik or anybody else and sadly they will look at you like who? They only ones they know are Tyson, De la Hoya and Mayweather.(And thats beacause of the DLH fight before that they would have been who is Mayweather?) It makes me want to slap them. When i do drag my friends to see a fight i have to explain them everything from who are fighting to how to score a round. I was just wondering if anybody else experiences something similar.

Trust me, man. You're not alone. I'm the only one in my group who watches fights that don't involve Oscar De la Hoya or Floyd Mayweather on any sort of regular basis. Occasionally, I will get them to view a bout or two other than those; often, though, it doesn't go all that great. I've been able to make some inroads with one of them by showing him Corrales/Castillo 1 and a few other great, recent fights. I'll see how that goes. It would be nice to be able to halfway intelligently discuss the sport with at least one of my buddies.

    Like? No. Love, yes.

If I had friends in real life who liked boxing half as much as I do I wouldn't post on this forum too often.

I might be able to swing someone to watch DLH or my girlfriend to watch Mayweather but that's about it. To everyone I know boxing is just a "quirk" of mine.

Sadly, you are not alone on this one. All of my friends simply don't care. Stupidasses would rather watch fake wrestling.

There is a bit of hope though. A couple of them seem to be getting more interested eversince I gave them DVDs of Pacman and Pavlik's fights. They have agreed to chip in for the PPV match on the 28th.
Hopefully for the one on July as well. :happy

Yes, I'm the only one, But luckily my friends know enough about sports that they know a decent amount of the fighters. But of course the easiest one to get everyone together for was Jones vs. Trinidad.

me either, i was so excited about oscar coming to our country 2 years ago and heck no one gives a ****, my friends don't even know who the **** oscar is and he was supposed to be popular. So my college peers talk about partying, games, women.. while i talk **** about training regiment and using the jab when it comes to fights.

they talk **** like hey being in a frat is cool, and i said back that frats are for pussies, they couldn't handle the problem themselves so they rely on to others.

the only one that got me into boxing is my family, my uncle used to fight, now he's still a hardcore fan and is a gambler. My mom(yeah it might sound crazy) is also a boxing fan, and she likes watching pac a lot that made me also appreciate pac as a fighter although at first i didn't like his awkward style.

my cousin was a strong puncher, who used to make kids the same age line as he is back then quit. I don't know why he's not even muscular but he's ****ing strong. He use to have a perfect amateur record but then he stop pursuing boxing when his mom got sick..and now he's in college and had stop all this dreams about boxing.

Me..i used to train and spar with my cousin but i'm simply just a fan and i'm not physically right for boxing and i'll just probably end up like a bum:yep

i talk more about boxing only here..thats why i'm here very often. I really love boxing:yep

I'm with everyone else here....although recently I have managed to turn 2 friends into Gamboa huggers. One shocked me the other week by texting me "Gamboa fights Rojas at the end of the month and Pavlik/Calzaghe is in the works". I almost **** myself,,,,I think I might have officially turned him onto boxing :yep

I have one friend who is a casual fan, he knows what is going on for the most part and knows quite a bit of history, I have to keep him up with what is going on and that is who I watch fights with. Other than that I know a couple of guys who got into the Contender

none of my friends are fans of boxing. My dad is into boxing and watches fights with me and we can get good conversation about boxing going.
