I'm from LEwiston, ME - So there are quite a few "old timers" in the area who will talk your ear off about Ali, Graziano, Joey Gamache and other fighters who have ties to the area, but as soon as you get into modern fighters they know nothing. They try to justify it as "The sports just not the same as it used to be..." God I hate that argument, it doesn't even make sense.

Anyway out of my close friends, I have one who watches UFC religiously and tries to act like he knows jack about combat sports, but he only knows what Joe Rogan tells him. One of my closest friends watches every fight, knows a lot of the fighters, but doesn't know much about fighting in general. He's the one who drive 5 hours and drop a few hunderd dollars to go see a fight with me though.

Thats the one thing about going to live fights, your surrounded by people who know what they're talking about (for the most part) it's great to have real conversations about the sport.

Yes. The only other guy I know that is a boxing fan was this delivery guy who used to box. That's it. Everyone else seems to be more into UFC/MMA stuff.

Not one of my friends is remotely interested in boxing, most of them think I'm wierd because of how I obsessed I am with it. It probably has to do with me living in Australia and the awful coverage it gets here.

If my friends in real life were fans of boxing, I wouldn't spend half as much time on here.

The lads love to watch a good fight, we have no problems getting together for PPV, as long as its Joe or Ricky.....

Otherwise im on my own, i have arguments even trying to watch the card if the lads are there.

I know exactly where ya coming from, shame because i like talking boxing more than anything else, no one to discuss it with barring the gym guys and you guys.

The other day one of my mates said 'im sticking a few quid on Lockett knocking out that American kid, are you ?'..... oh god help me............

A few of my friends and family members are casual fans. We usually have fight parties for the big PPVs, mainly for the Florida based cats (Roy, Tarver :)nut ), Winky) and Mayweather. But none of them are nearly as into as I am. The closest to being more than just a casual fan I know of is my cousin's husband from down south. I thought he was just a casual fan at first and only followed Andre Berto, because he knows him. But dude knows his ****, and even said "Cotto's a bad boy" while I was showing him the Berto highlights HBO aired during Miranda-Pavlik and after seeing Cotto-Judah on the upcoming schedule. That says a lot in my book.

"Cuba y Puerto Rico son de un pajaro las dos alas"

Cuba and Puerto Rico are the 2 wings of the same bird. I wish Cuba could represent themselves like PR does in boxing, boxing would be unreal with another powerhouse like them in the sport.
