Cowboy Wilson gave up the pro ranks at about 23 yrs of age - mind you he had 13 more pro fights than you who is being critical of him. Yes he did win many tent fights, perhaps 1000 as claimed. But he's now 45 years old and 2 stone overweight. Are you suggesting he now should be returning to the pros Einstein?

As a matter of fact me and Baby Cassius fought the last tent fight ever held in Victoria it was the last fight on the last day of the Melbourne show in 1971.
I have always been proud of being a tent fighter and it didn,t hurt me or Lochy we both went on to win Australian titles.

you guys rekon im thick but still persist that one must have a pro career in order to hold any opnion of boxing, tent shows etc? i am guessing you blokes must have had a heap of pro fights otherwise you wouldnt be posting lol or dont you practice what you preach?

Does a boxing trainer according to your doctrin also have to have a heap of pro fights in order to be a great trainer? Should he not have an opnion on punches, style etc because he hasnt had any pro fights?

Its easy really, just give me the list of all the tent fighters who established themselfs in the tents and then went on to become a sucess in the pro ranks. If its so simple to prove why have you failed to do so?

 

I can't do that Ty, but most of those blokes standing up there waiting for a challenge, weren't bullshited to & passed from one gym to another being told "I can get you a title" & finally left walking on their heals.

TCBoxa, information is quite accessable through the net these days, do feel free to look into stuff like this on your own accord rather than demanding lists and information from others. I think if you look back through the thread every questioned you've posed has been answered.

It's the same reason local councils are tearing down childrens playgrounds in local parks across the country. It really is disgusting, its a shame we cant fit common sense into the law so everyone is happy

Bugger off and read some about the history of tent boxing in Australia, you might get edumucation.

 

The list Bobby Sin posted was from the 30s,40s and 50's, some 70 odd years ago. Some of those guys went on to winning Australian titles but none of them ever fought for or won any world titles which imo proves my point.

Back in the old days much of what people saw of boxing was from Tent shows or the radio. "On 16 September 1956, Australia's first TV broadcast was made by TCN Channel 9 in Sydney. At the time, there were approximately 2,000 television sets in Sydney."

Tents had their purpose and place back then no doubt about it, however as ive already mention i dont feel they have any place in todays society and i still dont see any tent fighter whos won thousands of tent fights go on to become a world boxing champion.

Can you name one Tent fighter who went on to become a world champion?
