Outside of Floyd, who is the best "pure" boxer at the moment?

Ivan Calderon............great hand speed, reflexes, head movement, has zero punching power but always throws in combinations, can control fights with his jab and footwork, and is one of the best counterpunchers in the game.

No doubt Floyd know's the fundementals but he uses his athletisim as well to cover up some stuff he wouldn't be able to get away with without it.

Marquez is just a better "pure" boxer. I think.

he's a pro kickboxer, the fundamentals of footwork in kick boxing is a lot different then boxing.

 

i dont think a kid can become a pro kick boxer.

Agreed. He was just pointing out that I'm not a "kid who hasn't studied the game" :deal

I do train in boxing also though and want to make my boxing debut after I make a solid run for a world title in kickboxing (no I'm not ****ing with you) in the next year or two.

 

The fact that floyd can stand in the pocket and pick off shot and counter with his own is a skill in it self .
I still admire marguez skill a whole lot ,but he becomes to careless at time and leaves him self wide open when countering .. I am one of the people that picked him to out box pac because of his boxing skill alone .. but after watching him walk into shot after shot against pac I had to deduct him a point or two for his skills.

this is why I rank floyd above Marquez

 

If Floyd fought a fighter as quick and explosive and agressive as Pac you would see him get hit alot more.

floyd has a better defense, that doesn't make him a better pure boxer, it makes him a better defensive boxer, a pure boxer follows text book rules, watch bhop vs tito.
