I remember Lennox Lewis for getting stopped by 2 of the worst heavyweight belt holders in history and feasting on the rusted bones of Holyfield and Tyson .. The Ruddock win was nice but some of the 90s guys he beat were so over-rated, i'd take Chagaev over Briggs, Tua, Golota, Grant, Mavrovic and Morrison any time .. His win over Mercer was good also. When people talk about Lewis in historical terms its ridiculous, he never faced Bowe, he never faced Holyfield and Tyson when they had something and its an absolute fact that he didnt have the stamina to do 15 rounds which alot of the truly great heavys had to do .. Yet some people still rate this guy as a top 5 heavyweight of all time
Bingo. Lewis gets hyped again. He's one of the most overrated fighters on this site. He's borderline top ten at best. Holyfield is clearly greater, and Tyson arguably so. But you have spoken the truth, and will probably take abuse from the nuthuggers.
I question Lennox lewis's legacy when he avoided Chris Byrd INTENTIONALLY after seeing how Chris Byrd stood toe to toe with Tua and took him to school. To be GREAT, you don't avoid anyone.
Hopkins has beaten Pavlik, Trinidad, Echols who hit like a truck, same with Joe Lipsey, and moved up in weight and beat a decent puncher in Tarver. He dominated Glen Johnson who is a handful and he doesn't have one punch KO power but he is a bull and can break you down. Morales is another fine canidate. If Oscar had gotten the nod against Mosley, and Trinidad with Quartey on his resmue he would definately get a mention.
