Outside of the top 3 HW's, does this era have the best ever HW's outside the elite?

You're obviously from the "quantity over quality" school. Well, I assure you that "eras" are not judged by how strong the resident gatekeepers are in one division but by how good the top-10 contenders are. Today's contenders are no match for those seen in the 70's.

The HW division at this time is extremely deep in talent, with many fantastic contenders coming through.
The thing is Europeans are running the HW division, so people discredit it, but prime Tyson wouldnt have become great if he was around in this era

Maybe it was an era when you didn't have to fight someoney 475 places below you in ranking, just to keep your 0?

Win/loss records are very deceptive, and can be shaped anyway you want.

    WTF

I agree that there is a lot of talent out there, and even agree that Americans don't give it credit because most fo the quality guys are Euros.

But Tyson would have squashed anyone fighting today outside of the Klits, both of whom would be great fights.

So clearly you disagree. You think that this current generation of fighters are consistently fighting each other, and the best way for contenders to progess is to fight other contenders.

    OK then.

Lets take some of the "name" fighters.

    Boystov. 22-0. Reasonably highly ranked.
    Most recent fights?

    Kevin Montiy
    Jason Gavern
    Taras Bydenko

Arreola. Stepped up twice. Lost twice. Maybe McCline (tho pretty old) wasn't a bad win.

So, 3 decent fights, 2 losses.

Tony Thomson. Had a title fight, talked about getting another.
    What's his best win?

Honestly, if the top 20 guys actually fought each other regularly, some of them would have a few more losses, but be much better fighters.

But hey. Don't worry about that. Get to 28-0 by fighting stiffs, get your title shot and your cash out fight, and get smashed in a completely uncompetitive showing. Apparently that makes this generation of fighters better than others.
