Bored during lockdown. under achievers- Odlanier Solis - I think the heavyweight had a chance to do big things if he was fully committed to the sport. Was a great amateur with a ko win over david haye among others. David Haye - Will take abuse for this but a really believe he could have a must better resume. Had he fought more aggressive against Klitschko I think he would have been in with a chance. Solid puncher too. George Groves - If he stayed with booth I think there was a good chance he have beat Froch. Seemed to go downhill after they broke up. over achievers- Ricky Burns - Didn’t really to anything special. Wasn’t quick or a hard puncher. But ground out some pretty good wins. Carl Froch - Same again but ground out loads of good wins throu toughness. I do think his boxing skills is slightly under rated tho. Ricky Hatton - I think with his style and lack of head movement he had a pretty good career only losing to two of the p4p best and once on his comeback. Discuss and what’s everyone else’s picks?
I don’t know if I’d call Froch and Burns overachievers, since both were disciplined all year round. Discipline along with the right amount of ambition can take you pretty far. Froch’s walking around weight was always only a few pounds over his fighting weight year round, so come Fight night he was always strong. This is also the csss with Burns as well. Groves was talented, but like a lot of guys spent more time fighting the scales than his opponent.
Froch had good boxing skills. He was a World championship medalist in the amateurs! Look at the way he schooled Arthur Abraham. I don't believe he overachieved at all. From the first time I saw him box I always expected him to achieve big things.
under achievers- Odlanier Solis - pity about this one David Haye - didn't really follow up on his talk Juan Carlos Gomez - had an inactive period around 2008/09 with one fight a year and seemed to lose his mojo. Malik Scott
