Over-exaggerating Hopkins claims that he won the fight. I dont support bad decisions, but this was a close fight which ever way you look at it, simply because one guy had two KD's, and took a few of the early rounds, arguably the 12th, although I must admit, I watched it on a stream, but it seemed to me, that Hopkins winning by 1, a draw, or even losing to Pascal by 1, would of been a fair result, but by no means did I see what others seem to be seeing, a robbery.

Lebedev was robbed. Hopkins claims just seemed to be snow-balling cause he's doing what Hagler did against Leonard to make it seem like it was some 8-4 kind of fight.

I wanted Hopkins to win, but I dont think its fair to make the fight to be something different just because you want! a fighter to win, call as is imo.

Fantastic post, and exactly what I was thinking.
Too many fans wished Hopkins had of won, as he is an icon and American idol for whatever reasons.
It was a close fight, which could have gone either way and not a robbery either way

I don't like it when people claim it being a close fight despite one of the fighters being knocked down twice or three times.

it was a 8-4 fight, I certainly get the draw because it is in canada, but everyone knows hopkins won that fight. he didnt got robbed big like lebedev but he still clearly won, this would be like maidana getting a draw.

I have yet to see the fight, but it seems once I watch it I will perhaps agree with this post. A lot of people should simply start seperating the term robbery from a close fight. A close fight is a close fight and a robbery is a fighter clearly winning rounds and getting horrible decisions. We all know Hopkins puts great fights, but his style at times are dirty and could make the fight hard to score. I have feeling once I watch the fight I will agree with what some posters are saying or maybe Hopkins did get rob.

No, Hopkins proved that he can still make many a fighter look ordinary. Pascal is still a player at LHW, no doubt.

I thought Hopkins won pretty much everything from the 4th round

If you win by one round clearly, losing on the cards is still unjust. Perhaps not ROBBERY, but an unfair decision. There are only so many points to throw around with "maybe"s and "close-ish rounds".

Perhaps you should Watch Pacquiao vs. Marquez I

Hopkins dominated the fights and even in the rounds in which he was knocked down, he was winning those rounds also...

In a situation where Hopkins gets knocked down twice and is fighting in front of a fiercely pro-Pascal crowd, but still manages to get a win on one score-card and a draw on the other two.....you know he got the better of his opponent by a considerable margin!! Because if that was in the US - a place which is neutral for a Hopkins fight - there's no doubt in my mind that Hopkins would have snatched majority points decision, easily!!

So yes, people are justified in calling that an unfair decision, and a robbery.

I didn't think it was a close fight. Hopkins won the fight easily taking it as a whole event.

However, break it down and score it round for round, and well, the scoring isn't that far out. Just it doesn't tell the story of the fight.

Hopkins put in a performance worthy of winning 118-110, however the knock downs probably led to a 6pt swing on the judges cards, turning 10-9 Hopkins rounds into 10-8 Pascal rounds. I'd argue that round 3 especially probably should of been a 10-9 round as it was Hopkins round clear until a flash knock down 10 secs from the bell.

I just think the manner of the knock downs (both were as soft as knock down come), and the fact Hopkins did dominate the fight makes this seem like more of a robbery than it really was.

It was a strange fight, after 3 rounds I had Hopkins 5pts down, despite probably having the better of the fight.
