Over the last few years have you gained any respect for Rees?

Widely ridiculed as a total joke, 'a club fighter', yet the guy seems to be carving a semi decent boxing career out for himself.

Have your opinions about him changed over the last few years?

    He never helped himself.

Was always a good prospect but didn't dedicate himself to the sport in his key years. Then his ban (again his own fault) screwed up his big chance of riding on Calzaghe's coat tails. Doing well for himself now but he was his own worst enemy.

The guys always been talented but has clowned about and not focused properly.

He's always had skills and is a tough lad. He could of had a better career but he's not done bad for himself really compared to other talented fighters who aren't dedicated. He seriously needs to sort this stamina problem out though...if he ever wants to go to world level again.

What ever critics he has he has still managed to bag a WBA strap, European and Prizefighter trophy. So he has proved he can box in ALL formats. He deserves some credit. Look at the size of the kid, he was tiny for light welterweight and still got to World level.

He didn't "get" to world level. He was given his shot at M'Baye because both were being promoted by Fwank at the time. Rees was nowhere near any belts top 10 rankings as he had just come back from a 2 year(?) ban. Even some on here were saying "who the **** is this kid and how did he get his shot?"

I seem to remember Rees was brought in for somebody else at fairly late notice originally. Then the fight got rescheduled if I'm not mistaken? My recollections are pretty sketchy but the point is that he would never have got that shot unless Fwank wasn't involved with both.

Whatever he achieves from here he will have earned though.

seems quite lazy... didn't he struggle or fail to make weight in the past?

True. But my point is he beat a highly rated fighter for a WBA strap no? He can die tommrow knowing he won a well respected World Title. For someone of his small size and lack of ability he has overachieved, so you have to give him credit.

M'Baye was a lazy ****er and was beaten by a higher workrate from Rees and nothing else really. It's an OK achievement but I think what he has done since is more impressive.

yes, i thought he was a wste of talent but now he has moved down in weight, won prizefighter, become british and now european champ. he has only lost once versus a quality fighter.

  11. He comes across as a bit of a tosser. Always has. I have no real respect for him as a man.

He's a decent fighter though with some underrated skills, but his habit of blowing up half way through the fight will get him taken out at world level.
