I'm not sure if Top Rank is capable of launching a marketing blitz the way GBP did for the Mayweather fight. I'd say if it's promoted as heavily then it will do at least 1mil, but Floyd/JMM had the advantage of an American/Mexican headliner/co-headliner.

Cotto probably brings 300k Puerto Ricans who didn't buy the Mayweather fight, and Pac probably brings 150-200k Philipinos. Building off of that, there's still a hardcore base who will buy anything, the Mexicans who waste their money on JCC jr, and hopefully some casual fans who get caught up in 24/7.

its a shame Pac/Cotto is so much the better matchup and the fight will be a lot more exciting .....just goes to show that quality doesn not always = dollars....you have to ring in the casual fan. How the PBF vs Marquez mismatch sold is beyond me. The 20 million supposed marketing dollars had to have done it.

Its a shame when a real fight may not make as much as a boring mismatch.

I think it would do a million buys... I work with many people who are hardcore UFC fans and even they are talking about this fight and Dana White has been very quiet about these two:D. He knows if he mentions them hes in the losing end. So the fight has already receive and gotten a lot of attention in all aspects and its only October. Everyone knows this fight is the biggest thing out there this year. Two humble guys that bring a lot of excitement in the ring, and thats what people esp. your typical non hardcore boxing fan want to see. Now you know how much success this has when all celebrities already have their tickets. From the Lakers team to the Yankees, and many former boxing champs such as KT already have their tickets. So you know live gate is going to do very well. I just cant wait.:good

I suck at predicting PPV buys too, but I got a feeling it'll be under 1M.

Just look at historic PPV buys. If this does over 1M then we, as fans, have a lot to look forward to.

I think Pac/Cotto will be a huge success even during a Republican depression.
