Was it good, bad, or plain ol' stunk? And I am not talking about scorecards. I'm talking about competitiveness, excitement, and importance.
7 out of 10. I kind of enjoyed it. Disclaimer: My company holds a licensing agreement with Danny Jacobs, so anytime he wins a card gets bumped up a point or two.
The first and 3rd fights IMO where extremly competitve and very entertaining. 2nd fight with Guerrero and Klassen wasnt bad at all neither but not as fun as fights 1 or 3. Importance wise it has some signifigance Jacobs passed his 1st serious test and it will propel him into bigger fights now. Guerrero did win a Championship in impressive fashion and hopefully we can get some big fights at 130 with Soto,Lineares or Gamboa. Diaz vs Malignaggi I think proved both guys still have alot left and it was the type of exicting and competitive fight that will make us wanna see them agian. Im not sure Diaz deserves an immediate Lightweight title fight agian but I think he will or atleast get a eliminator fight and Malignaggi will probablly get another TV date, hopefully its not as he says it being used as the opponet in another guys hometown id enjoy something like him facing off agianst a Mike Arnaoutis type on ESPN.
First card was frustrating because Smith looked like he had a lot more in him even though I was going for Jacobs. Second card was good. Main Event proved my suspicion on how great of a fighter Juan Diaz is. Tonight he showed no improvement and was outjabbed by a B fighter. If he made one small adjustment of using his right hook, his win would have been justified. Unless he improves his ring smarts, his title is going to get stripped very quick. He wants a rematch against Marquez - I feel like that's a big no no at this point because Marquez will be a much stronger and smarter fighter after his bout with Floyd no matter the outcome.
I wasn't entertained (maybe swayed by the bad results primarily)... IMO not a good card, so it's bad....
Damn, thank you! I kept screaming at juan to throw the right over when PM circled left. He never would have missed. He would've left no doubt if he would've fought smart, but he didn't.
