Pretty good performance. What are his positives and negatives as he steps into the hw title picture?

Positives: His workrate is tremendous for a hw, demonstrated good two-fisted skill, aggressive style, good hand and foot speed, at least a decent chin

Negatives: slightly above average power, lacks jab, can't fight going backwards, leaky defense, looks prone to swelling

He doesnt have the power needed to scare Wlad, his below average stamina will give him trouble against Wlad, Wlad by 4th or 5th round knockout, Iggy is better than Povetkin.

but wlad's chin is hardly iron is it.

povetkin can go long in fights.

wlad's stamina has never been the best.

i still think povetkin is a real threat to wlad's title. :yep

Wlads chin is glass, but can Povetkin take advantage of it before Wlad settles into his groove? I dont know, plus Povetkin has maybe above average power, not good or great power like Peter, Brewster, and Sanders. I think this fight made me realize Povetkin is not as good as I thought he was, and that he probably doesnt have what it takes to beat a fighter like Wlad at this stage in his career.

but he sets stuff up better than peter and brewster.

    those 2 dropped wlad.

povetkin is strong and good in combo's. :bbb

    wlad could outbox povetkin.

    but i fancy an upset.

Povetkin fought exactly the same way he always does, I've seen what I've always seen in his fights. He is techically very skilled and has a high workrate but he has flaws. He can be hit, is defence isn't exactly great and he isn't a heavy hitter, he is a bit short for a HW, his chin isn't really tested yet. Unless something shocking happens I can't picture him beating Klitschko right now.

Nothing to add except that he looked VERY tired already after round 3(!) .

Ibragimov to punch out Wladimir then Povetkin and Maskaev to knockout Peter then Vitali...

That'd be a fun loony way for 2008 to go, wouldn't it? For all you Chaos lovers out there...

He`s too small for HW, he could be great as a CW, imo.

I agree, but Wlad will beat the smaller Povetkin to the punch everytime, he doesnt have the power to back Wlad up, which is the only way you can effectively attack Wlad. I think Povetkin's in for one hell of a beat down when he meets Wlad in the summer.

Before this fight I gave him a 25% chance of winning, but now I give him a 20% chance of winning, it could be lower though, Im going to have to watch the fight again on the replay on HBO tonite, where there is a clearer picture.
