I rarely read about just how brutal a body puncher Joe Louis could be but after re-watching some of his bouts in slo-mo I was extremely impressed ... watching the Max Baer bout and the Godoy rematch and you see him break these guys in half with body shots ...

Was there ever a finer offensive machine than Joe Louis ?

    Nope.

Overall Joe Louis was the best ever, short devastating punching, the master of the 6-inch punch, body, liver shots...great jab...and the best combo power puncher

Hell yeah, Louis could trade body shots with the best of em. In their second fight that right he hits to Shmellings body just before his final combo was ****ing brutal.

I absolutely agree. Also a excellent combination puncher, which is rare in a heavyweight of any era.

A lot of these guys from yester year were great no doubt. but to say he was the finest offensive machine is pushing it.

Mike Tyson, Marciano, even Vitali were more solid offensive wise that the great but still highly overrated louis.

Louis had a better assortment of punches than Tyson who was all hooks and uppercuts .. Louis had that but straight shots from a distance as well

    Marciano was not close.

Wlad , please. Can someone tell me the last body shot or four punch combination he ever threw ?

I also feel that the Baer fight was Louis' masterpiece. That louis could've beaten any HW past or present....Ali included.
