I bet it hurt Anderson when that guy...ummm whathisname was tapping as hard as he could

Anyway Thingamebob was just using his punches to set up the TD so it's really hard to say, got to give Fail begrudgingly

Silva, easily. Sonnen only had some effective moments in the first. After that, Silva was pretty much lighting him up in the stand-up exchanges.

...I really need to watch this fight again. I don't remember Anderson doing anything on the feet except grabbing Sonnen's foot and making him do a roll. Other than that I remember him knocking Anderson down twice or so.

Silva makes Sonnen's legs buckle in the 4th with a brilliant short elbow, and Chael almost goes down. If he wasn't juiced, he surely would've went down.

Well Sonnen put Silva on his ass twice so go figure. The problem with MMA fans is everything has to be emotional theres no objectivity. Yeah we all know that Sonnen is a clown but he also won all rounds before he got caught.

To summarize, Sonnen was dominating Silva but made a bonehead move by giving up his neck near the end. And yes Silva won and he deserves it and hes a great fighter. End of story.

Ill give you guys an example of objectivity. One of my favorite fighters is JDS from the beginning. But against Cain (who i'm neutral with), I can't favor him due to styles.

Again, to summarize, I hope JDS wins but its highly unlikely.

    Sonnen ,

In a nut shell what this comes down to is effective striking , for me that means the most scoring shots , and shots that cause effect , i.e. hurting / cutting your opponent .

For me Sonnen edged the stand up , and completley dominated the grappling , the reason i mention that is because thats what led to Sonnen controlling and winning the overall stand up , Silva was being over whelmed on the ground , and Sonnen was bull rushing him in the stand up , if Silva wasnt so aware of the beating he was about to receive on the ground if Sonnen did secure a TD i have no doubt he would of stepped of line and crashed Sonnen with a counter strike on repeat .

However that wasnt the case , and Sonnen was catching Silva , a lot , on the feet with a looping right hand , which seemed to have Anderson in trouble pretty much everytime it landed .

Absolutley no doubt that Silva is the more refined , dynamic , well rounded striker of the two , but on the night Sonnen had his strategy perfect and for me Anderson lost the stand up aspect of this fight .

    just from the standing:

    rd 1 sonnen

rd 2 silva (albeit, like 20 seconds total of stand-up)

rd 3 silve since they were only on their feet for like 10 seconds and sonnen didn't really do anything before the take-down...but this is just silva by default, not like he did much either

rd 4 silva...was swarming on sonnen in the beginning of the round, had him in total defensive mode eating lots of shots

rd 5 sonnen....looks like silva slipped after a sonnen punch, but silva did dick all

again, just purely based on the stand-up, but, there wasn't much to go on

Interesting question. Dont remember too much of the fight on the feet, but i remember Anderson pulverizing Chael's midsection (which Chael later said was excruciatingly painful). Also remember Anderson just hanging his chin out and letting Chael tag him. Crazy thing to do, but proved the guy has a metal chin as well as being an extraordinary attacking and reflexive fighter
