Lewis by some margin, his resume is just deeper, Calzaghe wasted too many years before stepping up his comp.
Lennox has a better resume but being a big HW for his time had more advantages over his peers than Calzaghe.. at HW you can dwarf your opponents.. you can have 20/30lb weight disparities ...that matters imo.. in a p4p sense, if they were the same size peak Calzaghe would outbox lummox imo.. he didn't like southpaws either .. Byrd deserved his shot.. it just depends how you define greatness but if you go on resume then it's obviously lennox.. but Calzaghe gets **** for fighting shop worn Bhop & Eubank etc yet just remember how old Tyson , and Holyfield were when LL turned em over..
Lennox Lewis by far he didn't waste 80 percent of his career fighting the likes of Tocker Pudwill, Evans Ashira.
I can't split them to be honest. In my opinion the Welshman was once of the most robust I've seen. Lennox, resilient and moved well for a man that size. Both greats.
I love them both. I actually think Calzaghe could have been greater but he didn’t face enough top fighters at the right time. I always feel something is missing from his career which I don’t with Lennox.
Calzaghe was good, but didn’t fight RJJ or B-Hop until they were both past it. They both dropped him in the first round of their fights, so that should tell you what would have happened if they were in their prime. Calzaghe was very good, but not on a Lennox Lewis level. The UK will never produce a greater fighter than Lennox ever again, thats no shame on the UK either as neither will any country in any part of the world. He is the greatest fighter in the most celebrated division of all time.
I personally have Lewis locked inside my top 50 p4p ATGs. But Calzaghe is maybe top 80, or something like that.
