Muhammed Ali over Frazier.. Yes i said it.. Joe Frazier was bullied and mauled around by Foreman, we are always talking about how losses effects fighters, but it seems like fighters in the old days were immune to being "shot" and "washed up".. Frazier was completely wipped by Foreman and then lost to Ali, i have also heard stories about Frazier going to the hospital, and almost dying after his first meeting with Ali.. That combined with the fact that he was blind on one eye made him a very banged up fighter, after losing to Ali and Foreman he went on to beat Ellis and Quarry, who both were well past their best and then lost to Ali, if that happened today, Ali would get next to no credit for beating Frazier in their rubber match, all critics and fans would claim that Frazier was shot to pieces and a shell of his former self.... Ali's resume is imo the best in HW history and Joe Frazier is by no means bad wins for Ali, but they are not as impressive as some make them, atleast not if you are one of those who says/said that Taylor was shot against Froch, or Morales was shot against Pacquiao..
I get why you say this, but its because people nowadays declare guys shot after a loss quickly, I think it would be better if we viewed it like in the old days that some get a lot out of them in a lost but others bounce back stronger, it depends on the win. Its kind of sad that we look to discredit guys quickly nowadays rather than give credit for beating a tough opponent. While ali's wins over frazier are by no means as good as fotc (allthough fight 3 because of the legacy and impact might be) but it is still a good win for Ali nonetheless.
Don't know anyone that really rates it but that whole "Lewis beat everybody he fought" line people like to spurt annoys me, McCall lost that fight more than Lewis won it.
exactly:thumbsup Mccall with that mental state shouldnt have been in the ring that night, but it gets overlooked in the beat everybody he fought argument.
I would have to disagree i think them fights were excellent and just because Foreman blasted out Fraizer it doesnt mean he was shot or not as good as people thought, it just means Fraizer got hit by a steam train in foreman.. Ali took alot of big bombs by Foreman but used the slack ropes well to his advantage by taking the sting out the shots, a well excuted plan that has probably bitten ali in the arse now.... Remember if Fraizer had got of his stool in the last round he would of won that last fight Ali collapsed in a heap.. Them fights wasnt overated they were WAR.. :bbb
The reason why Mccall wasn't fighting properly is because he knew he didn't have a chance of beating Lewis again. Lewis only lost to Mccall because he overlooked him like he did with Raham. At the end of the day Lewis beat everybody he fought - you can't argue that.
Mayweather over Delahoya Duran over Leonard in the first fight. Obvious Leonard was better with two fights where he whipped Duran. Duran Barkley. Barkley was terrible Manny over Hatton.
tyson over holmes wlad over mercer byrd over vitali jones over ruiz pac over oscar, clottey, marga and hatton holmes over mercer...to many to keep going
Nah man, Mccall was rushed into the fight by Don King, he weighed 237 on fight night, was in rehab before the fight. Just a crackhead having cold turkey symptones on fight night, Lewis might have won a good ud that night but Mccall wasnt the same guy from the first fight that day.
