If Fedor beats Overeem at this point of his career, then it'll be hard for anyone in MMA (fighting currently) to surpass Fedor in terms of greatness. Overeem looks like the real life Bane in Batman.
Do you follow Dana on twitter? Do you have all the TUF seasons on DVD? Is your closet full of TAPOUT swag? Do you believe Brock Lesnar was the #1 heavyweight in the world? Do you dance to the UFC theme song? Back to the point I directed at someone else before you barnacled yourself to me. Do you honesly believe the UFC's heavyweight divison is on a superior level? And BTW, I never argued the fact the UFC has the largest share in mma. But it is because of clever(yes I said it) marketing and hype. Not a monopoly on great fighters. Why can't you see it?
Something people tend to downplay a lot when it comes to muscle is genetics. I've spent my time in the weight room and I get honest gains from working hard for months on end. I'm right in the middle of two extremes of people. I have friends who are honestly drug free, who seem to gain muscle by just looking at weights. Overeem strikes me as a guy who is likely one of these people. This coupled with possible hormone abuse and you get some exponential gains. Appearance doesn't always equate roids, there are guys who test positive who look like absolute ****. There is more to maintaining mass like Overeem than simply roids. It's genetics and diet too. TBH I'm wondering how much Roids might account for his size, I would not be surprised either way, if he were or werent using. But in the end, innocent until proven guilty.
There is really no point in continuing. I 100% agree that the UFC doesn't have a monopoly in heavyweight... but thats where it ends. Youre the same type of person who thought freaking Dennis Kang would come into the UFC and clean house.
Oh really. Did you ever read a post where I said Kang would clean house? I was never even remotley excited about his arrival. I'm not anti UFC, I am anti Dana White. He is unprofessional and treats fans like they are stupid and if they don't agree with him he treats them as if they are ******s.
I agree Shields isnt an example of that although I I'd question just how hard the UFC pushed to get hold of him, Jake himself claimed that he was taking a paycut in order to fight for them. I'd say thats more a case of a fighter looking to test himself and potentially build up to big money fights and in the end SF were the org who allowed him to do so without sticking him on the undercard and then holding him up for months. Kang is actually a classic case of dishoniest "were better than the rest" UFC hype(same with Gomi and Crocop the second time round). He'd already lost to Akiyama and Mousasi by the time he was signed so few were expecting him to dominate. Even then he was hardly embarrised was he? almost KOed Bisping and was getting the best of Belcher till he typically got sloppy. The thing that stands out for me is just how few quality fighters in good form the UFC have actually signed over the past 3 years or so. They've done well building up there own prospects they could sign cheaply and were able to pickup Vitor and Lil Nogs contracts uncontested but the vast majority of the other big names who've at some point been free have ended up elsewhere, only the guys who hit bad form end up in the UFC. The reason seems obvious to me, Dana and the Fertitta's want to maxmise there profits by keeping the fighters share of the profits as low as possible. They know they don't need to sign these guys because they've got most of the fanbase/media in the palm of their hand and can hype/dehype anyone they want to, most obviously with "the new breed" nonsense at HW.
