I'm just going to tell you all now because it's very likely this will happen in the near future. Yes, overeem is amazing I love the guy I think he's massively exciting love him to bits. There I said it. But he has a weaklness and a big one - just like all big guys. A smart fighter - possibly even Werdum - will know that a fighter as big as Overeem will not have much stamina and overeem fights in burts and is at his most dangerous in the first 1/2 minutes when he comes in like a freight train throwing punches. But what happens after that time period? He will tire. Badly. It happened with Brock and it happened with Carwin and happens to all the big guys; too much oxygen and blood getting pushed about the body. I like you all love Overeem but I'm telling you here and now any fighter like Werdum or Fedor who last more than 2 minutes with him will likely beat him so don't be suprised if he looses this GP. You heard it here first. Bookmark this thread chaps! :good P.S. I do hope he wins though he is sooooooo exciting and Fedor's getting on. Plus I'd love to see 'reem vs the UFC guys in a crossover bout.
Fedor vs Overeem would be the most thrilling fight ever. They would be trying to decapitate each other. I go back and forth on this, but today I feel that Fedor would land the decisive shot before Overeem, though he'd have to take a pounding to get in the position to land it. Fedor by KO near the end of round 1 after 4 and a half minutes of Overeem dominating on the feet.
If Overeem is put into a really high tempo fight for a prologed period he may tire but I see it being much less likely than for guys like Brock, Carwin, Rogers and Duffee. The reason why we see alot of big guys gassing isnt just the extra muscle there carrying but rather because they use there size to cover up technical weaknesses a smaller HW would not be able to get away with at the elite level. Sloppy technique and poor tactics naturally expend more energy than well executed and timed technique, just compair Overeem/Rogers to Brock/Carwin. When Carwin gets top position he's throwing wild GnP which mostly misses its target, when Overeem does he bides his time, imrpoves position and then unleashes a sustained accurrate attack that finishes Rogers.
ive been calling this for months overeem = guy thats done relatively little in mma + muscle + ridiculous hype hes lost by ko before, he will again.. dont be shocked homie
It's an easy call the he is. Has almost NO ground game, and gets tired out. People like him because when he fights the crowd comes to thier feet. He is fun to watch but not the best/
If someone makes a bet that a fighter will lose in the future then its a pretty safe bet. Saying why he will lose and who he will lose to is an impressive call. Reem is beatable but he is also a beast. Enjoy the ride.
overeem is beatable, I dont think he is an unstoppable force in mma. That said, of all the heavyweights in MMA, I would say Overeem has the best chance of beating Fedor. I would not pick Alistair to over Emelianenko but I see him having the best chance. Even more than Werdum.
In all honesty fella your not saying anything new, no man on earth, no man in combat sport is unbeatable.......everyone depending on circumstance and situation would lose or has lost. We all know Overeem weaknesses, we have all seen him lose years gone by....in fact you would not even make this post if you even knew Alistair carrer....the guy lost in 2009 so no one is going around saying he is unbeatable. The tournament he is in, has a very high standard of fighter, Werdum, Fedor, and Barnett and no one would be surprised if he lost to them. The real question here is consistency, If Overeem faced Duffee 10 times, he would win 9 times out of those 10.....which is the maxium you can give for any one on one fight. 9 out of 10 allows the laws of probability to give you a direct idea of how a fight would go.....but there is the possibility that Overeem might on that one occasion come overconfident, de-motivated, injured etc. Overeem fight with Werdum in my estimation is 6-4 in his favour, and in some cases people would put 5-5. Werdum has a great chance to win so this is not new. In saying that Overeem has in the last few years come on hugely, skill wise, physically and mentally and if he goes on to improve and beat a host of top fighters in MMA and K1 could well be going legendary status.
I believe if he won this tournament beating Werdum, Fedor and Barnett he would instantly become a all time top five heavyweight IMO. This content is protected
Of course he is. I would venture to say that Overeem has usually always lost against the best fighters that he fought. He has some good wins, but he has usually always fallen short against his best opponents.
That was when he was at 205. Find me ONE fighter in MMA or the K-1 that has moved up with the same measure of success that Overeem has had. Anyway i dont think anyone has ever said Overeem isnt beatable. Anyone can loose on any given night. For my money a healthy Gokan Saki beats Overeem and Reem has at least 50lbs on him. Even Spong gave Reem hell. As for "very" beatable. No.
