So basically Overeem didn't like the idea of fighting in the semifinal and finishing the tournament?

Looks like it's all on him.. Why the hell would he enter the tournament if he didn't intend to ride it out?

My guess is he didn't want to fight Bigfoot..

Overeem is the strikeforce heavyweight champion. He's not gonna be kick off that easily. Dana would throw him in there with a big heavyweight if not cain-dos santos at least against a guy like lesnar or carwin and if he loses then you know dana will talk **** like how ufc guys are better than everyone.

He might fight a few more times until he either loses the title or Strikeforce is scrapped, but I don't think that Overeem eventually fighting in the UFC is given based on how this thing is playing out. He's already talking about his options outside of Zuffa.

Alistair will be receiving a letter from Zuffa's lawyers in the post very soon I suspect. He wont be fighting any time soon

Injuries aside all fighters should be flexible with fight schedules. They get paid to fight and the organization puts together their schedule. Unless I'm missing something, that's how it works. Now I can understand Overeem's gripe if he and SF agreed that he would be busy in Oct and they suddenly strong arm him into fighting in September. But why isn't he putting his SF career at the very top of his priority list?? Whatever he has planned, can't he cancel it to accommodate the tournament? He's lucky he's fighting for a big organization. No other fighters complain about their schedule so that should tell you something.

I'm with Zuffa on this one. Gotta play hard ball. Besides, Overeem will be back on their roster in no time. If Dana and Tito made up then this recent bs isn't something to freak out about.

that is a legitimate reason, especially in mma where foot stomping is legal.

you are a moron if you think he should fight with one.

Dana's the figurehead, man. He's not making these decisions. If UFC buy Strikeforce, and Overeem would rather fight there, that's not Dana.
