Prime for prime under modern MMA rules (whatever you consider Smith's MMA prime to be). Who wins?

I like Reem by sub in this one. In some ways this will mirror the Rutten fights in Pancrase imo. Both Dutchmen have a patient in some ways, but explosive style. Mo likes to keep the fight at range with leg kicks and punches.

I have seen too much of Mo's K1 fights, but his defence is pretty poor from what I have seen, backing up in straight lines ect. I can see AO exploding with a counter that knocks Mo down, then totally outclassing him on the ground, sinking in a choke

To be honest Mo was crap. Very good commentator mind you. Very knowledgeable and turned about to be a good coach. But as a fighter he reminded me a lot of David Loiseau. Never understood what all the fuss was about.

maurice smith was one of the those typical striker turned mma fighters back in those, i.e. the second he fought a grappler he lost and lost badly. overeem didnt and doesn't have that problem, he's one of the few pure strikers that looked to perfect his craft as an mma fighter and not just somoene who tried to carry one fighting style. overeem beats him via whatever he wants IMO, smith wasn't even an elite kickboxer

He worked very hard in the lead-up to the Coleman fight and scored a massive upset against a monster.

Overeem started off as an mma fighter, and then moved to K1. Maurice Smith made a name for himself as a kickboxer, and made move to mma at the end of his kickboxing career.

Smith made his move to mma when the thought of a striker being able to compete in what had thus far proven to be a grappler's world. Smith was a huge underdog when he face the then thought unbeatable Mark Coleman. This was when there were no stand-ups for stalling. I'm pretty sure there were still no rounds either. There was something like a 30 min time limit, and maybe a 5 minute overtime. Anyway, it was amazing when Smith was able to get back to his feet after being on his back for a very long time. Smith when on to batter Coleman for the remainder of the fight, and won a decision to become the new UFC champion.

They need to create a classic MMA section ALREADY, just for you so you can choose all the old timers in the fantasy match ups. :)

Bobb Sapp is a notable. Used to see him often in other fighters corners at PRIDE HERO's and the K-1. Isn't he making another comeback though?

no ****, People always have the fantasy "prime" vs "prime' thread . It's a useless arguement because the fight will never happen so nobody ever get's proven right or wrong, it's an endless debate.

    :-(

Mo was not crap. He showed a lot of people how to get your striking working well in MMA well before there were camps and striking coaches.

Mo trained at my gym around his fight with Stan and stuck around for about six months as he loved it here. He was a great guy to everyone in the gym.

Maurice Smith is the first guy who beat Mark Coleman when Coleman was thought to be unbeatable.

When Mark Coleman first fought in the UFC, he was said to be the most complete and versatile fight ever in MMA. He was huge, great wrestler and could punch too.
