I would like it if Overeem concentrated on being the SF champ. If he participated in K1 then that is no biggie as him losing in K1 is not a knock on him as a mixed martial artist. It's a seperate discipline, like boxing, and one that only helps him as a mixed martial artist.
Difficuilt what to make of this one , there is a lot of hype surrounding Overeem at present way way more than what he had around him when he was lighter and in Pride !!!! There are wide spread suggestions the guy is pumped full of gear and he's done or said nothing to deny this :deal INTERESTING , from this K1 remark it looks as though he has no desire to ever fight in the UFC , maybe he likes a free reign to maximise his income , cant argue with it , the UFC are renowned for there low paying of fighters !!!! , im no expert on what K1 pay there fighters but one would have to think the offer of regular fights in the UFC would come somewhere close to his not so regular fights with SF and his K1 income combined ..................
I believe he has always held this as a goal. After the second Badr Hari fight, I'm not sure there is enough time in the day to remain technically proficient enough at both sports; he is much closer in MMA than K1, in my opinion.
That would be cool, then he could enter the UFC as SF Champ and K1 Champ and shoot for the triple crown!!
I like that overeem can compeate in two sports, but shilt would kill him, badr will whoop him again (the first fight was a fluke of sorts, badr has a weak chin and not the best defense but fantastic offense) dont kid yourself overeem had some success in the past but he wont ever win the k1 gp. especially not being able to thai clinch and throw knees in K1.:deal
Overeem wants to create history and maximise his income. Unfortunately, the UFC's media management is so good that you are encouraged to think not being part of the UFC is demonstrative of a lack of ambition or talent.
He's probably the only person with a legitimate chance at actually doing something like this...at least right now.
