Overrated fighters?

Duran would be schooled by Benny Leonard, Pernell Whitaker, Ike Williams, Shane Mosley, Joe Gans and Floyd Mayweather on his best day as a lightweight.

 

After Duran got done abusing Floyd's other half and giving him the finger, Floyd wouldn't even enter the ring against The Hands of Stone!

With respect, the only part of your post that I like is your mention of Joe Gans....a VERY underrated fighter.

 

As a cruiserweight Holyfield was amazing- one of the best ever. The problem is a lot people consider him a top heavyweight, which he was not. That's why I think he's overrated. As a heavyweight he'll always be remembered for the Tyson fights but people forget all his losses starting with Bowe. Who else did he beat as heavyweight? Too many people list him as a top heavy which he clearly wasn't.

for starters he annihilated the guy who destroyed Mike Tysons undefeated streak of terror.
He beat George Foreman...who was 20-0 (19 kos) going into the fight and who by the way was no joke at that point.
He avenged his loss to Bowe...(undefeated heavyweight champ)
he beat mercer, and kicked another champions ass in Tyson who was a giant favorite.
so yeah, if you fight past your prime, to almost 50 years old, most people like you wont remember how significant his wins were because everyone is hung up on what they remember... and most people on these boards werent even out of preschool when evander was the guy making 20 million bucks for a fight 20 years ago

great fighters can stay great throughout their entire career, this is something tyson didnt do, his peak was far to short ali is a great not just because of how talented he was but for what he did to the sport he took it to another level
