For Me, It's Joe Frazier. I'm not questioning his toughness, or his left hook which is one of the best, and from a personality view he seemed like a good guy.
The reason I've feel he's overrated is that he never fought Liston, Mac Foster, Earnie Shavers, or Ron Lyle. Liston died, and the other three were beaten by Jerry Quarry, who Frazier's number he had. I think if he fought any of those guys, he gets stopped by at least one. I would have liked to have seen a Frazier-Norton fight in 76. A pre Manila Frazier I feel would have beaten Norton hands down, but a 76-78 Norton was really peaking in the heavyweight division at the time, and I think it would have been a much better fight.
    Who are yours?

I'll stick to fighters of the "modern" era whom theres film on, since old timers tend to overrate a plethora of early 1900s guys based purely on having watched limited footage and read legends.

Among casuals, its EASILY Floyd! Not even close. 97% of casuals think that Floyd is the GOAT, so yeah, he takes the most overrated cake among casuals.

Among hardcores, I'd say Mike McCallum and Azumah Nelson. Both great, but both also overrated, especially McCallum.

Canelo. Not even 30 years old yet and he’s a legit HOFer. He has a deep resume with good names, solid technique, great chin and solid power. However, he lacks the “WOW!” factor. Against equally good fighters he does just enough to justify a decision (or just enough to lose competitively) but always has ridiculous scorecards in his favor. He blatantly ducked a prime Golovkin and has no problem using his A side status to dictate catchweights, rehydration clauses etc.

Canelo ain't a great, so his cheating ass shouldnt even be considered.

He's the most fabricated superstar in the history of the sport.

Joe Frazier beat Ali wide on the cards. Really turned it into an ass kicking. So no, he's not overrated. He's underrated.

Everyone whining about Larry having no respect till he has too much and is in the GOAT argument but Joe Fraizer is circling the bottom of the usual top ten barely.

    Sad...

Frazier IMO gets a little underrated probably because of the Foreman fight and people dismissing his 1-2 mark vs. Ali.

I think a lot of fighters could qualify under overrated depending on whom you ask and underrated. Tyson is one of those. Often underrated by hardcore whilst dramatically overrated by casual fans.

Ali is overated by the general sports fans. He even admitted he wasnt the greatest fighter of all time. That was his Gig to during his career. There are people who will parrot that and they can't tell you who is 2nd.

Joe was shot after Manila. By 76 I would have to give Norton a strong chance. I know Lyle spoke of Frazier with the utmost admiration. "Joe Frazier had all the fighters respect in the top 10". That was from a Ali documentry.
Mac Foster would have been lightwork for Joe. Shavers? Can't count him out but he had a weaker chin and many more flaws than even 80% Joe. Ernie has the big punch Joe was no slouch in power himself

Great fighter, one of my favourites, love watching him fight. But I can't see a case for him the top 10 ever. Or that he's unbeatable at LW.

    No it isn't.

You can be legit great, but people tend to overstate how great you are.
