Lewis vs Vitali is the most overrated fight of the 2000s imo. Lots of hugging, mauling and the punch exchange were awkward. Brewster-Liakhovich Vitali-Sanders Etienne-Clay Bey Peter-Toney l Were all better fights imo. Patterson-Johansonn lll is another overrated fight till today I still can't enjoy watching. Multiple knockdowns yes but that's just it. Then both boxers to proceed to miss their punches a lot and the whole fight looks weird. Literally Doug Jones fights were mostly more entertaining, Foster, Ali, Machen and The Folley fight is the best. Lewis-Mercer, Morrison-Williams & Jefferson- Harris are overrated af no need to elaborate
I would say Dempsey-Firpo but it gets brought up everytime this thread is made so maybe it isn't overrated anymore.
I'm with ya all the way, although with the exception of Lewis-Mercer, which I always found super fun. Reminds me of a very overrated match of Holyfield-Mercer.
What I liked about that fight was that it displayed how tough Lennox was. He proved beyond doubt that he could suck it up and fire back.
Overrated by whom ? I think most people consider it a bit of a stinker and by far the worst fight in the trilogy.
People bring up best trilogies and have the Ali vs Frazier trilogy as the best in Heavyweight boxing history. The 2nd fight eliminates that for me
