:deal That is their tactic; discredit the legends for the fighters of yesteryear in order to prop up the K Brothers. That poll was about punching power, not about who beats who. Obsessed Klitschko fans are the biggest trolls on ESB bar none. The haters don't troll as much as these days.
The first sentence is correct, the 90s are much better. The second is wrong, though, they were just too small, Frazier, who's often compared with Tua here, weighed just 205 lbs and had an average chin for that weight (dropped bny Bonavena, also 205 lbs). Their stamina and their skills were ok but none of them would beat someone like Ibeabuchi let alone the Tyson/Bowe/Holy/Lennox/Klit level.
The list is referring to the heavyweight contender of the 20s and 30s, rather than the 19th century namesake.
Tyson and Marciano were in no way overated. Shavers is, because he needed a practically stationary target in most cases, and since he was known only for his punch, it became a legend. He rocked a few top fighters, but could never put any away.
Who is putting Holyfield on the list? This a guy who mercilessly pounded on Carlos De Leon and struggled to shift him. It was target practice for him against little Bobby Czyz and he couldn't hurt him either. Czyz remarked after the fight that he doesn't hit hard. Look at the Foreman fight to.
Tyson had tons of one punch KOs and KDs on solid, durable and big opponents. If anything his one punch power tends to get underrated these days. Don't believe me? Just read the number of people who consider him an accumulation puncher. Yeah, Tyson didn't one shot every mutha****a he fought, but then who does? Marciano wasn't as big a puncher as some of the modern era's behemoths, but P4P he was a world class puncher who could put fighters' lights out with one shot. Would have made a hell of a CW, LHW today. Shavers is the only fighter of those three who gets seriously overrated. He had one KO that came as a result of a single shot, a couple of TKOs, and a lot of KDs against average to great opposition who all survived those knockdowns and went on to beat him. Doesn't really live up to his reputation really.
All 70's fighters are overrated. Shavers in his prime gets beat half to death by a complete bum with a 20-25-5 record but many say he would clean out the division today.atsch
