I think its overated me self. Robinson was not fully prepared for the first fight and definitely underatted Turpin.

Turpin must be given great credit for the win thoough. Robinson probably took loads of fights lightly and still won easily (against quality opposition)

Ive heard people say that turpin had robinsons number. Bull ****. I had Robinson winning the rematch before the cut and his rally. yes turpin was giving robinson a lot of trouble

Its a myth that turpin was winning the fight. He would of won it Robinson hadnt of scored the KO because of the cut but not cos he was beating him

My dad tells me that The British radio commentators at the time fed people **** that Turpin was winning every round of the rematch. he watched the fight years later and had srr well in front

Mickey Duff rates Turpin as one of the best fighters ever based on these fights

This win was phenomenal !!!!! Even an out of shape Robinson was still the best around at the time. And let's not forget that Randy ran Ray close in the rematch prior to getting knocked out. Robinson was definitely in shape for that one.

    Underrated.

Turpin is a guy that has not stood the test of time well. The nights he fought Robinson, the guy sure looked formidable to me.

It was a great win. Even a under motivated Robinson was usually too much for most fighters. There's some good info in ''Sweet Thunder'' about the build up to this fight.

Turpins win was huge, I don't believe all the B.S about an unmotivated or out of shape SRR. I don't think you can go 15 rnds out of shape. Theses guys fought so often they were in shape most of the time.

was Robinson in perfect, tip top shape, probably not and that would be more accurate and truthful i think. Was it his best performance I doubt it, it wasn't Turpins either!

the point is always the same TOP men can & do beat each other, and thats greatness at the top. the fact that SRR hardly ever lost, and did it for 25 years at the Top is what stands him out against most others and Turpin deserves the shout for that.

turpin must be given full credit for this win and his career as a whole.

But when I hear people crediting turpin as one of the best ever and having SRR number, I have to say its overated

its the same with Jake La Motta. people rate him as one of the great fighters cos of his win over srr. He did prove to be a great fighter but not cos of a win over a welterweight

that win alone got turpin in the hall of fame. i don't think the win is over or underrated. it's just right.
