Canelo couldn't knock the skin of a rice pudding and that in turn makes Golovkins chin overrated

Not saying these guys couldn't punch, but they tend to get overrated when discussing power.

James "Bonecrusher" Smith. Cool nickname, some noteworthy stoppages, but he only knocked out about half of his opponents. Same performances with a different nickname, like "Silky" or "The Professor," and nobody really remembers him as a puncher.

"Merciless" Ray Mercer. The Morrison KO is an all time classic, but, in hindsight, was more of a one-off. Caught Damiani on the tip of the nose, and he quit. Just couldn't stop guys other big punchers of the era routinely stopped - Kimmuel Odum, Ossie Ocasio, Jesse Ferguson, Mark Wills.

Roy "Tiger" Williams. There was a time, from the mid 1970s until about 10 years ago, where you heard a lot of stories about Williams' sparring wars how dangerous a puncher he was. But as his record came more into focus and his fights became more available, the films didn't reflect that. It seemed to be mostly hyperbole from boxing's gym rats and "wiseguys" ... as Cosell called them.

Ray Mercer, people judge his power solely off of that Morrison combo, he never really knocked anyone else out cold
