I'd love to see interviews with opponents of Benn and Julian Jackson saying those two guys didn't hit harder than any other fighter had hit them before. Obviously as fighters reach a higher echelon of opponent they won't be KO'ing everyone. It's just not going to happen as you're mixing it with better fighters. Fighters with better defensive skills, or physical toughness, attributes above that of the average fighter, and especially when you're moving up weight divisions. Heavyweights are a different story.
Bull****. Shavers is one of the most overrated punchers in the heavyweight division, perhaps the most overrated if you take casual fans out of the equation. He had only one legitimate one punch KO over rated opposition (Ellis) and never knocked a fighter clean unconscious in the way Tua, Ruddock, Wlad or Cooney ever did. He also routinely failed to take out guys he hit flush with his best shot, which pro-Shavers fans always put down to his lack of finishing ability, never grasping the fact that a truly top class power puncher wouldn't need great finishing ability to stop his opponents. If you ignore all the quotes from Shavers's opponents and just look at the footage of his fights you wouldn't ever consider him anything more than a very hard punching contender, certainly not the GOAT puncher he's constantly and tediously touted as.
What do you mean in regards to Corrie Sanders? That it was the setup that did opponents in? Or the sneakiness of his left hand? or something else?
Not the power , but rather d overwhelming amount of punches per unit of time and d duration of his combos as well . Frightening and overwhelming on both accounts . Also he had good footwork and was sharp at countering with his combinations . It really wasn't a left hand . Don't know where d legend about his left hand came from . It were those combinations 4 all of their traits , that footwork , sharpness and overall speed . Not pure (1 punch) power at all .
D poster is unforgetable . D fighter was good and is still good 2 watch . Probably had n immense chiseled monster hanging and swinging in d wind BBC (meaning d fighter) .
Yes, if we just ignore the numerous quotes from the people that fought him and others who are highly regarded power punchers we'll really be able to tell who actually punched harder.
I am great thanks!!! Your good self??? Been meaning to drop in for months. A few drinks and shooting the breeze in here for a bit. I had to go back 30 pages to catch up. I reckon i've missed a few good threads but i snipped a few out.
No, I'm serious. Show me a bunch of clean one punch KOs from Shavers that back up his reputation. Quotes from fighters alone don't form the bedrock of any argument.
