Hello I train boxing 5 days a week for 1 hour and if you know anything about boxing training you would know how hard it is. My question is... Am I training too much? Because I dont wanna get overtrained and im scared that 5 is too muchh.. I sleep like 6 hours a day and I eat until im full.. I just dont want to get weaker because I train too much, it happend before and I dont want it to happen again...
Put it this way, do you think we'd be around today as a species if we couldn't handle 1 hours hard work 5 days a week? Consume plenty of calories and get enough rest and you'll be fine.
Well humans today Arent that active but they were before so thats what i was thinking and also someone told me you need 48 hours rest between training
Listen to your body. Do you feel overtrained? Are you getting weaker rather than stronger? Are you loosing muscle? One hour a day is not very much, so, my guess is no, but perhaps your nutrition needs a boost.
As long as you eat enough, drink enough and sleep enough you will be more than fine from 5 hours of training per week.
There's no such thing as over training. There is a such thing a fitting too much into too little amount of time. You need to slow the pace down a little bit if you truly feel like you are over training as well as getting in more healthy calories and macros in order for your body to repair itself.
over training is hard to do but possible. over training happens when you under sleep and under eat. A good diet and good sleep regime will sort it. I train 5 days a week I am fine but I sleep 8 hours at least
Good points. :good @ Al - Timing is everything with training. Even after you've slept you wan't to make sure you're fuelled up and rejuvenated for your next session. You need to be at least 85/90% fresh, otherwise you'll know about it! This kind of thing comes with experience, though. So just listen to your body and take a day off when you feel you need it. On that day off you might want to either get some light/active recovery in just to get the blood flowing, or you might want to do nothing. Choice is yours. :good
The key words for any athlete are periodisation and recovery. In pre-season training, we trained 3 times a day for 2 weeks, but had ice baths and oxygen therapy to aid recovery. This was for 2 weeks. Twice a week during that time we'd give blood via small nick to the ear, and if the sports guys said we were too fatigued, we'd be off to the pool for a recovery session. Some athletes never needed the recovery sessions, some just couldn't handle 3 times a day. Training isn't about training harder, its about training smarter.
