Mosley - Many will say age caught up with Mosley. I call bull****. Mosley was the same fighter we've seen the last 5 years or so. He was jittery, didn't move his head, had no jab, and tried to load up with big shots. When you're fighting a guy like Mayweather, that will get you beat up. Mosley was completely confused and dejected. Mayweather had an answer for everything he tried, and even bullied Mosley around the ring. Mayweather - Great performance by Mayweather. As usual, some will completely dismiss this win. Mayweather did what he was supposed to do. However, he did some things that let me know that he's still near the top of his game, and in some ways, better than ever. He made an "A" level fighter look like he didn't even belong in the ring with him. This guy is a true student of the game. Before the fight, he said he would press the attack, he said guys just fight to survive against him, and he said Mosley has stamina issues. Many snickered at these comments, but all three rang true on Saturday. The corners - Roger was his usual self. He cursed every round, he stayed calm, and he gave some good tactical advice. Richardson proved why trainers get overrated. "Super trainer" was just as lost and desparate as his fighter. Allegedly, Richardson has been devising a plan over the last several years to beat Mayweather. He found out last night, that there is no gameplan to beat Mayweather. You just have to let your fighter be aware of certain tendencies and hope that he's good enough to beat Floyd. Commentators - Merchant was a disgrace. He took numerous shots at Mayweather before, during, and after the fight. You would think that Mayweather was an overhyped media creation who hadn't fought anyone had you listened to Merchant. Steward was better, but still couldn't help but take subtle digs at Mayweahter. Lamply was only guy who seemed interested in actually giving the guy some credit. Not many top level fighters would be treated like that by the commentators.
Lastly Floyd will **** Pacquiao up and his fans are scared shitless b/c they know no test no fight. So that insures a greater asswhooping and an end to his mirage.
At the end of the day, the Shane which Mayweather just handed his ass to would still beat most of the top Welter's around and is one of the best fighters in the world.
Of course Mosley is out of his prime. However, a past prime Mosely beat the hell out of Collazo, pushed Cotto to the brink, knocked out Mayorga at 154, and destroyed Margartio. So even though he's passed it, he still has his power, and he still has what it takes to compete against top level fighters. Given this, it's astounding that he wasn't even competitive against Mayweather last night. This is the 3rd time Mosley has been dominated. The first two times were against much bigger guys. For the first time, a smaller guy bullied him around the ring. That's something that you just can't overlook.
Gotta disagree with ur assumption of the corners on Richardson side. I believe he had a great plan instilled, Mosley just did not do it due to his getting tired early in the fight. man that was sad to see. This dude was always able to fight for 12 rds and if u look at 24/7 they rarely showed him doin cardio. Plus as u get older ur body bulks up and gets a certain weight so I'm sure 47 is not his natural walk around weight no more and after 15 months of inactivity he prob was walking around like around the 160 so limit. Simply put Mosley did not execute and I do not fault Richardson at all for that last night.
Pacquiao is being backed into a corner, and is running out of escape routes. More people are starting to ask why he doesn't want to take the test if he's clean. His promoter and trainer, see the huge dollar signs and will push this guy to take the fight.
Great performance by a great fighter. But seeing him hit and hurt badly in the 2nd by a slightly over-the-hill Mosley gave me a lot of confidence that Manny can knock this guy out. :bbb
You can believe that nonsense if you want. I'm just going to tell you that it's simply not true. Mosley didn't get tired until the later rounds. He was frutstrated in the middle rounds. There is no gameplan to beat Floyd because he can fight in so many different ways. How he fights is tailored to his opponent. Any trainer who doesn't realize this is doing their fighter a disservice. Against Mayweather, a trainer needs to focus on his fighter's strengths, make sure he comes into the ring mentally and physically prepared, and make him aware of any tendencies that Mayweather may have. Outside of that, it's up to the fighter to do what he does best.
Mayweather needs Manny, more than Manny needs Mayweather. That's the dynamic as it stands. Manny can retire now and in all probability still be regarded as a better fighter who achieved more, no matter what Floyd goes on to do - simply because there isn't a lot more FMJ can do. Look at his options, there is no true champ at 140, he could get a belt holder to move up, and beat them. Another smaller guy, people will say. Manny is the only other real superstar in the sport. No one at WW worth a damm, other than Berto - who isn't exactly big box office. He could go to 154 or MW to fight Martinez, but having looked shite at 154 against DLH, going in against a more serious challenge in Martinez, It doesn't really pass the risk/reward test.
Did you not see the Margarito fight? Mosley hits like a truck, he is the divisions hardest puncher. Manny is going to get descombobulated and stopped in...round 12.
Again he tired around rd 3. We all noticed that in the house and prob cuz his inability to make weight. There is no way Mosley at 38 is walking around at 47 if he has been there for yrs. Have u trained or worked out and tried to lose 10-15 lbs? **** is hard as hell and if u try to fast it off u get real weak and fatigued only to gain it right back quick. He got tired around rds 2 and 3 and yeah he was frustrated but more gassed than anything. I work out 4 days a weak with iron work and cardio and I'm 34 so I look at how my body is now compared to a yr ago. Roy Jones is the perfect example of how u try to make weight and get tired, which I think Mayweather just beat his ass, part of Mosley getting fatigued quick played a major part. Richardson was not at fault in this one.
