I said, it didn't appear to make that much of a difference in the Cotto fight. I didn't say catchweight fights don't make a difference at all. Because they obviously do! They level the playing field, and that's exactly why they demanded Cotto to come down 2 pounds.

Pre fight this was not a big issue, because pre fight we all were aware of the fact that it was Pac who was venturing out of his comfort zone of 140 pounds, and that an agreement of 145 pounds was pretty fair. However come weigh in and fight night, we found out Cotto came in very well at the limit, and that Pac actually performed better at the weight than we'd initially thought. Hindsight can be a wonderful thing.

People will only remember Manny kicking Cotto's ass, because that's the only thing worth remembering! The catchweight issue isn't important, because like I said....Cotto coming in at 145 didn't make a difference to the outcome!

If it didn;t make a difference i the Cotto fight, then why did they demand it?

Of course it made a difference. Would it have been a big enough difference to change the outcome of the fight/ Neither one of can say if it is or not. But that's the problem. We cshouldn;t have to be here specualting on whether Cotto could have beaten Pac if he had been full strength.

So funny I stated in another thread that Pacman did not look that much smaller, if smaller at all then Cotto in the ring. I said at times he even looked bigger and I got friggin FLAMED

If Pacquiao tests negative for drugs, then random drug testing wouldn't make a difference. So why was Mayweather demanding it?

See where there's a glitch in your logic? Just because something COULD make a difference (and thus they ask for it), doesn't mean it actually DOES make a difference.

Pac came out on record and said if Clottey is over the limit he will pay a penalty fee of...

    100 Billion dollars!!!
And then during the fight Clottey can not punch his hardest....

This is all in the contract

Sorry, wrong. Random drug testing is not designed to catch abusers, it is designed to deter use. So, the expected result of random blood tests are negative tests.

He wanted it to deter Pac from using, if he indeed is using. He didn't want or expect to catch him, IMO.

My point is that 99% of anything in a contract is designed to solve problems when things go bad. As long as nothing goes bad, then the language doesn't have any effect. But you're sure glad it's there if it does go bad.

They asked for a 145 pound limit seeming to hope that it would have an effect, but in reality, it didn't look like it had any effect, other than maybe that Cotto came in even better shape than usual.

or the effect that cotto had to focus more on making weight than train, but basically, it's all moot since he didn't have a legit trainer anyway.
