Imo it just proves how shot Barrett is. The way the hook was thrown from that stance, even though it was short and accurate, it cannot have generated too much power, Solis isn't a particularly heavy hitter anyway.
Good win for Solis but lets not get carried away. Barrett is 38 years old and came into the fight 3-4 in his last seven fights getting knocked out 3 times. Cliff Couser kayoed him in two as well. When a fighter starts getting knocked out that many times things can go bad with regularity. I would have liked to see Solis taken further to see what kind of stamina he has. Early k.o.'s against chinny journeymen don't always tell the whole story especially when pitted against the elite.
It has been a long time since I have seen so nice counter. Impressed. I have no doubt Solis would beat Haye. Solis is top 10 HW now.
Excellent Interviews with Solis trainer and Russ Anber http://theboxingbulletin.blogspot.co...-trainers.html Has Solis trimmed down in weight? Russ: I used to think about his weight especially when he was at 265 yet when I spent time with him in camp I realized he just has one of those body types that’s just round - but he’s not obese. Solis is actually fit and fast he runs a lot - but we do want to bring his weight down because we feel he doesn’t need to carry that excess weight for guys like the Klitschko’s. But I will tell you he’s certainly not what I would call a fat heavyweight. Pedro: Honestly I don’t worry about his weight. As long as Solis is prepared technically and competitive wise that’s all that matters to me at this point in time. As far as his weight goes Solis has been working hard on trimming down. He’s looking good. Does Solis have any future opponents in mind saying he get’s passed Barrett? Pedro: Well we are only concentrating on Monte Barrett for now. Of course after this fight we are willing to fight anybody.
