And to answer your question, isn't it obvious that Floyd Mayweather has the better resume? They both fought De La Hoya and Hatton, but Floyd fought them first! Pacquiao just fought Clottey, who's a professional loser that's tried to quit in several fights (Freddie Roach told us that PRIOR to Manny fighting him) and didn't even show up to fight...okay...fine...but guess what...Floyd's fighting Shane Mosley, which, in my opinion, should be considered a much better challenge than Clottey. So outside that, who are we really talking about regarding Manny's resume? Cotto, Barrera, Morales and Marquez??? Really? That's what makes Manny's resume so much more impressive in your eyes? I mean, he went life and death with Marquez...some say Marquez even beat him the second time. He lost to Morales the first time, but beat him AFTER Zahir Raheem had already beat him. Big deal. Perhaps Manny should have fought Zahir Raheem instead of Morales...maybe that would have been a tougher challenge, but we'll never know since he opted to fight the guy who was coming off the loss instead. And Barrera...shoot...Barrera was already on the back side of his career. I won't take anything away from Manny though because that was a solid win, but man, you can't tell me that going life and death with Marquez and beating a shot Erik Morales (who couldn't beat Zahir Raheem before he lost to Pacquiao and who couldn't beat David Diaz after he lost to Pacquiao) is more impressive than Floyd beating the crap out of then-undefeated 33-0 with 27 KOs Diego Corrales or jumping up in weight and fighting and beating the king of the lightweiight division at the time in Jose Luis Castillo...no way you can tell me that Manny's wins over Morales and Marquez were more more impressive than Floyd's wins over Corrales and Castillo. So really, what you're telling me is that Manny has the better resume based on his wins over Cotto and Barrera? LOL. I don't think so. Honestly, I would say those wins are probably on par with Floyd beating Zab Judah and Genaro Hernandez, Jesus Chavez or Carlos Hernandez...not to say that any of those guys are equals, but as far as accomplishments are concerned, they're about the same.

    Thoughts? So many things...

Barrera was a legit win over an ATG, who was still on top. But Corrales and Castillo are better then Morales. Morales best days were past him, when Floyd beat Corrales and Castillo their best days were still ahead of them..

I do rate Cotto and Clottey however. Just because Pacquiao is superior in every way to them, doesnt mean this still isnt a featherweight beating up welters.

When Mayweather schools Mosley I'll still have Pacquiao slightly ahead, but if Mayweather beats Pacquiao, he'll have a better resume and be known as the better fighter.

Pacquiao is a top 25 fighter all-time in my eyes btw.

    sounds like Greg Leon LOL

anyways regardless of who it is as we know its easy to spin a fighters accomplishments any which way you want. Pacquiao's resume has been better than Floyd's resume since he beat Marquez. Then he went on to beat Diaz, Hatton, Oscar, Cotto, and Clottey in 3 higher divisions.

  8. Did anyone ever question Floyd's resume below 140? He fought the best guys available, save perhaps Mosley and Casamayor.

Questioning Pacquiao's resume seems foolish, though.

Great - Mayweather beat Oscar and Ricky before Manny. A lot of people beat Oscar before Floyd, and Collazo imo beat Ricky before Floyd. Manny beat JMM before Floyd. What's the difference? Oscar was shot when Manny fought him, but it had nothing to do with him fighting Mayweather previously. And Ricky was fighting at a weight where he was undefeated and dominant against Manny. Ricky only fought once at WW before the Floyd fight and as I said, his win was dubious at best and he came out of that fight saying himself he had no business at 147, which is why he never defended that belt and dropped back to 140 immediately afterwards.

Barrera (the first time), Morales (the first 2 times) and Marquez were the top challenges available when Pacquiao fought them. Those are great wins and every bit as good as beating Corrales and Castillo, if not obviously better. All 3 of those guys will finish their careers ranked higher than Corrales and Castillo on any ATG list.

His opinion of the MAB win is crap. Barrera had just turned 29 and was comming off great wins over Naseem, Morales, Tapia and Kelley. If anything, that win over MAB is more significant than any accomplishment in Mayweather's career.

It is a real article. I still don't get why people give Manny props for facing Morales instead of Zahir Raheem. It is a joke.

His current fame is based on beating leftovers.

Then he gets props for facing Cotto instead of Mosley? Another joke.

Face it. FMJ has the better resume.

Because Mosley opted to fight later brainchild. Go look at youtube and the call outs. Mosley didn't want it. He wanted to go to the dentist and go on vacation.

He let ODLH get the fight. He then let Ricky Hatton get the fight. Mosley probably kicks himself every day because of it.

This is just hype. Both fighters are awesome and in a league of their own. THey both have impressive resumes. It is up to the individual to spin it in the favor of their favorite fighter. I am a fan of both and would tie their accomplishments and give Floyd the edge in talent, thus is the reason why he is the favorite to beat Manny. At the end of the day, if Corrales and Castillo would have fought Morales and Barrera who would have won? I can see it going either way.

i never bought into much about when he beat barrera barrera couldnt really train cause they kept giving him head scans and constant hospital appointments after his old promoters let out he had brain surgery also big bear was on fire and had to move his training camp he also found out they stole millions of him and his wife divorced him so i think he wasnt right in the head on the night

i also think the wins over morales were over rated morales was clearly gone at that weight it showed in the fight....but hes beaten whats there to beat its not his fault he ahppened to turn up at the most opportune time
