P 4 P Who Is The Greatest Pure Puncher Ever?

Well according to the Ring magazine who did a list of the most powerful p4p punchers, Joe Louis is the guy. I can live with that conclussion.

 

In terms of pure power I'd go with The Barbados Demon Joe Walcott.

But the uppercut he stopped Johnson with would be my pick. Followed by the combination on sanchez and the finishing 1-2 on kelley.

A bit premature to say one of the most hardest hitting fighters of all time but at featherweight and in the modern (1985-and on) era he ranks very high.


What's everybodys thoughts on bazooka gomez? True one shot power or pressure bursts the pipes?

Also zarate I would vouch for, people mix weak competition for overexagerated ko percentages, but most of the less proffesional fighters he fought where el rancho and knew how to look after themselves....he could spark them with either hand with very little effort.

 

Foreman, he can KO most people with arm punches

 

It's infinitely more difficult for the little fellas to KO each other. Too many people take into account the physical size of the fighter. Easy to do but it's wrong

 

Joe Louis for me with Julian Jackson, Tommy Hearns, Jack Dempsey, Bob Foster, and Michael Spinks.

as far as heavyweights go, yeah. pure punching power it's hard to compete

yeah there was a thread about that list a few weeks back...i like it but it's criteria isn't clear and it's not really about pure punching power. joe louis was technically perfect but p4p, he wasn't the hardest puncher
