Any word or rumor when/if Paul Williams might fight again any time soon? I'm interested to see how he responds to the Martinez fight.

Apparently, HBO is interested in having him comeback in a rematch against Kermit Cintron.

He needs to fire that trainer of his before he fights again. I have never seen a fighter progress so little

Other than his trainer (or manager?) claiming Williams was winning in 2nd fight and that he'd beat Martinez in a 3rd one, I've not heard much about Williams since that crushing loss. Hope he recovers, though.

After a KO like that, two things are virtually a given:

    - ample time off

    - a nice, safe confidence-builder as a rebound.

Expect something borderline ridiculous like Golden Johnson or Steve Forbes at 154...probably on a PPV or WCB undercard around late spring/early summer at the soonest.

Once you lose by knockout, you will never be the same fighter again, that's for sure.

That doesnt have to be bad though. In all seriousness paul williams needs to fire his training and management everyone. Contact emanuel steward make him his trainer and sign with a big promoter. Campaign at 154 and dominate the hell out the division, school everyone who dreams of stepping up from 147. He has the physical attributes to do this. He lacks guidance though. He needs to sorten this out first then we will see him back near the summer.

That isn't true at all. Pacquiao's doing fine.

One could certainly make the argument that a truly brutal chin-music knockout like Maravilla's over the Punisher "takes a lot out of a fighter" but there really is nothing scientific about that observation. It's more of a generalization and there are certainly exceptions.

He will be fed feather fisted fighters for the next year or so then build up his name and step up against a top guy only to be taken down again.

Yeah. Well, that last part remains to be seen but the first half definitely sounds likely.

I wasn't kidding about it being someone like Golden Johnson or Steve Forbes at LMW.

his camp has said they want to get right back into things up to and including 160. i think they should stay the hell away from 160 unless he wants to fight winky again. there are some big punchers already there and more that are up and coming.

154 against someone like IB said...there is always cintron, cotto/mayorga winner...hell he would do well to fight yuri foreman since there isnt a real threat of a flush shot hurting him from yuri.
