    I'll stick to RJJ.

Tyson was dominant because of power, RJJ was dominant because of tremendous skills. RJJ unified the WBA, WBC, IBF Light Heavyweight titles.

VERY good query...I'm pleasantly surprised the general forum finally has something good to offer...it's kind of a hard question to answer because of the countless variables...at the top of my head, and without thinking about it too much...

    1. Pacquiao
    2. Jones
    3. Mayweather
    4. De La Hoya

How can demolishing the best the Welterweight division can offer 'not mean much'? Pacquaio has practically cleaned out the division of all it's top fighters. And all the while giving up many pounds in weight on fight night.

It's not until 20 to 30 years time that people will see Pacqauios achievements for what they are.

    cheers tony :good

this question had been bugging me a while.
coz you look at RJJ's hayday. and you think wow this guy was untouchable.
then you look at pac now and he's being touted as a top 15 ATG.
you look at floyd at his peak and he seemed untouchable.
    same with oscar.

wanted to get ESB's take on it. i was surprised a poll like this hadnt been done already

has to be rjj the man was outstanding at his peak and you couldnt mention the word lose regardless of opposition, remember he also fought 2 legends too pac mans 2 legends meaning toney, hopkins, and morales, barrera. jones fought as low as 153lb and his heaviest opponent weighed 226 a jump of 73lbs pac man is seen as great cuz of his jump in weight he has fought as low as 106 lbs and his biggest opponent weighed 150lbs a jump of 44lbs, so roy jones actually jumped more weight than pac if that makes sense, oscar lost alot of big fights although never ducked anyone and floyd would be second for me unbeaten against quality opposition a couple of fights could put him top vs pac, ortiz, martinez even bradley would make his resume look even better.

and another thing to add is that i doubt pacman wouldve taken on oscar at 147 in his prime i really do doubt it, and maybe even floyd wouldve ducked the fight but oscar would defo have went looking for the fight.

Yes I remember he was ranked p4p1 by `experts` etc but in my own judgement he was never the top fighter in boxing at any point in his life, he was always ONE OF the best tho in his prime & was a great fighter so I take nothing away from him... Mosely is another that was `ranked` no1 at some point but I never felt he ever was.... Pac, Floyd & RJJ tho are a different story, I agreed at certain times when they were ranked no1.

Agreed. ODLH and SSM got the p4p#1 crown, but I never felt they were ever the genuine top dogs. In the period they held the top spot, it was obviously RJJ, but he was being punished for what The Ring perceived as weak competition (which is difficult to dispute 1999-2002).

Since the decline of Sweet Pea, I only recognize RJJ, Hopkins, Floyd and Pac.

Yes Id probably agree there, with Hopkins beng less so than the other 3 but still no1 at some point, yes.

Hopkins was #1 intermittently between 2001 and 2005, with RJJ having a brief renaissance 2003 to 2004 or 2005. He didn't have a fairly long undisputed reign like Jones, Floyd and Pac.

well, where do we start? there's just so much to dissect...

we'll start with trinidad vs de la hoya...

trinidad took the last three. i think we're both in agreement on that... which means in order to get a draw, ( on my card anyway) trinidad had to win three of the nine rounds. now, iv'e got to admit, the three that i gave to trinidad were close rounds, whereas the six i gave to oscar were absolutely clear rounds for him. this is where people think a robbery took place. because oscar dominated in the six rounds he won, and trinidad just edged his ( three of the first nine, not the last three. these were clear trinidad rounds) they think he was robbed. he wasn't... it's just one of those things. if oscar had done something in the last three, he would of got the decision. but he didn't.. it's his own fault.

    de la hoya vs sturm...

errrrm....that's..errrrrm......the first time iv'e seen a card like that. i already knew you couldn't score a fight properly... but you're worse than i thought. much worse.

NO WAY did sturm win that fight 10-2. that's just crazy!!. i said sturm was robbed, not tied down unfairly while oscar pounded on him. JESUS!!!

i had the fight by four rounds to sturm.

    de la hoya vs quartey...

quartey just dominated most of the fight with the jab. oscar couldn't do anything for 8 or 9 rounds to stop it. oscar was being way too cautious. not surprising, as quartey could punch. oscar found that out. he had a great finish with him nearly stopping quartey... but it wasn't enough. i had by five points to quartey. he was ROBBED!!

de la hoya vs mosley 2...

i had it by one point to mosley, but wouldn't of had a problem had oscar got the decision. it was a close affair.

...but to have it for oscar 8-4, is just WOEFUL!!

word of advice... stop scoring fights. save your self the pain. you're unable to do so in any way shape or form.

    WOEFUL!!!! :deal:deal:yep
