The jab is the most important punch in a fighter's arsenal. Usually, HWs are listed when talking about the best jabs of all time, but, let's give the other weight classes some love. Specifically, I'm looking for fighters who kept an effective jab as they moved up in weight.
Golovkin's. The versatility is amazing. Distance setter. Distraction. Rangefinder. Set up punch. Thudding power.
As much as people accuse the man of using only pot shotting jabs, Floyd Mayweather Jr. should be P4P #1 on fans and haters list of Greatest Jab of All-Time. This content is protected
Just to throw it in, there was the night that John Molina Jr. summoned the boxing gods to give him the ability to throw combos behind the jab against Ruslan. But it only lasted for that night, he loss the power. This content is protected
Kell Brook has a classic British jab. He keeps his back straight and throws it so clean it looks like a power shot. This content is protected
Mayweather has a good jab, but against Pacquiao he was scared to even extend it. It barely touched Pac most of the time. Kovalev has a good stiff jab. Golovkin has a decent jab but everyone can look like they have a good jab when they are fighting all scrubs. Wlad Klitscho has a good jab. Andre Ward has a good stiff jab. He had Kovalev's nose leaking all over the place from the stiff, firm jab to the snot box.
Where was the jab against Golovkin? Anybody can look like they have a good jab when they are fighting mostly cab drivers.
Same goes for Golovkin and his so called "versatility". He has never fought a guy that was bigger than him. He could beat Gabe Rosado clean. He was rabbit punching the minute Gabe started hitting him with clean shots. This content is protected He hit Lemieux while he was down and was jabbing him because he was afraid of the power David had. He keep the shorter guy at bay with the jab. This was no Hagler vs Hearns 2. This content is protected Kell Brook messed his face up and uppercutted his soul out of his Soviet born chest. This content is protected GGG is the king of fundamentals but he is truly not what people make him out to be.
My god, thanks God that GGG won those fights if not who knows what people like you would be posting...
