Throughtout my years at ESB and my years on AOL before that, I've never seen anyone compile a P4P heavyweight list. But based on some comments on the Holmes - Holyfield thread, and the Ali - Duran thread, I think a list would be interesting. Either a top 5 or a top 10. My list would be as follows: 1. Dempsey 2. Louis 3. Ali 4. Holyfield 5. Frazier I know many would have Ali on top, but one has to consider his size in relation to the fighters he fought. Thoughts?
Big difference. For starters, I'd pick Tyson, Foreman and Lewis to beat most of the fighters on the P4P list partly because of their size and weight advantages. So this would reflect on many peoples H2H lists. Career wise, I think Lewis for example also had a better career than Holyfield, but I think Holyfield is a better p4p fighter, as is Marciano and Dempsey, even though one could argue Lewis, Foreman or Tyson ranks higher in an ATG list, they don't on a P4P list. Put another way, imagine Lewis, Foreman, Dempsey, and Marciano, Tyson, Holyfield, Frazier, Louis, Ali, etc, all fighting at 200-215.
so a p4p list considers only the performance of a fighter in his prime and does not take into account longetivity and titles held..
