Who in Hopkins resume was/is overrated?

Lets not forget this a 42 year old Hopkins we are talking about. I would gladly compare a younger Bernard Hopkins clip over a Joe Calzaghe any day of the week.

So you want us to compare how Hopkins looked vs Wright as opposed to how Joe looked vs Manfredo?

Your delusional....when you fight the lesser fighters.....you tend to look dominant.

    Yes Hopkins is 42.

42 year olds are generally past their physical prime.

It is delusion to think a 42 year old is top 5 P4P.

Joe Calzaghe is easily the best boxer of the last decade, not even he'll be top 5 P4P aged 42. Hopkins has aged very well, but he isn't defying physics.

He is a top 5 fighter because he defeated a highly ranked Winky Wright.
Joe vs Manfredo? **** yeah talk about a P4P defining fight.

Well, to be honest....anytime he posts in a post that has nothing to do with Calzaghe, he is quite knowledgable and unbiased. Swear on my life. Too bad he also tends to make threads that have nothing to do with Joe, about Joe.

Plus, he is hands down the funniest poster on ESB!!!

How old is Ronald Wright? 35

What is Ronald's optimum weight? 154?

Should a world class LHW have trouble winning, these factors taken into account? Yes.

How did Antonio Tarver look in his last fight? Awful.

Trust me, Hopkins will lose to the excellent LHW/SMW he faces. Everyone will say how he has aged overnight...but he has already been past prime for quite some time.

Well done on your two very good wins Bernard, but they are far from definitive proof he is still elite.

I dream of Calzaghe - Hopkins happening. Hopkins would be embarrassed. Lets just hope Calzaghe can somehow get past Kessler aged 35.

Winky is a middleweight, he is too big for jr middles.

In all honesty, I think Calzaghe beats Hopkins, styles make fights. Although it's 50/50.

But pound for pound at the moment, Hopkins has the better resume and stature in the game.

Calzaghe has to beat Hopkins in the ring, he can't take a top 5 pfp slot by beating Jeff Lacy, Sakio Bike and Peter Manfredo.

Joe may 'embarass Bernard, but until such time i believe it to be prudent to rank a fighter according to his victories rather than who he might lose 2

Can we all agree then Calzaghe is better(in pure ability terms) than Bernard Hopkins. But Hopkins (arguably) has the better resume.

I don't think I can to be honest, I haven't seen a lot of Calzaghe to make a fair comparison. You can make cases for both sides here i guess. Joe has fast hands and good power, Bernard displays awesome ring generalship and defence.

Cant fully agree. Hopkins is arguably the best defensive fighter of this generation....defensively Calzaghe isnt even close to him. Offensively, yes....but not by near the margin as it is defensively.

Hopkins is the better overall boxer that Calzaghe is....and has the better resume.

And I do favor Bernard in this one............if it happens.
