P4P king Juan Manuel MARQUEZ KOs brave Juan DIAZ in FOTY candidate!

Diaz being a natural lightweight with an incredible workrate (unlike that of CASA) will outpoint the best technician of the sport. He will be hungrier now to claim back his title. JMM will be spectacular in the first rounds, but i think the added weight will affect his stamina. I dont really see the similarities between Diaz and Pac, so i dont see the same scenario playing out. Diaz by decision.

 

I would go against the general concensus here and pick Juan Diaz via close decision.

Even if JMM looked strong and impressive against Casa in his last outing, he faced a fading guy who had been lucky in his last two fights prior to that. And even if Diaz struggled and lost eventually to an inspired and equally big Campbell, I still believe his solid work output, relentless style and stamina would present difficulties against a fighter who is reachng 35 years of age. Plus, he had gained enough experience (Freitas, Diaz, Csampbell, Katsidis) which IMO would help him here.

This is a good, competent fight, and though I won't be surprised if JMM wins this, I am leaning more on a Diaz upset.

I would rank the Hatton fight as difficult for Pacquaio as Diaz for JMM.

I don't see any easy fight for either of them in their next schedules.

 

If Marquez can avoid getting busted up by Diaz "Circle & Jab" routine...I pick JMM
(JMM has been prone to getting his eye swelled up by jab's and basicly anything left)

Wow. Absolutely no respect on this forum for Diaz. I'll go out on a limb and choose him to win. Keep in mind this prediction may chance once I've had a chance to fully think it through, but as of now Diaz really seems to be getting short-changed here.

Quite a careless and reckless description of Diaz there. He is anything but untested. He's fought Freitas, Cambell, Julio Diaz, Michael Katsidis, Lakva Sim, & Julien Lorcy. People forget he was winning the Nate Cambell fight relatively clearly before the cut and fought his balls off till the end of the last round.

This fight isn't as cut and dry as everyone thinks. Ruling out Diaz, when he fought as hard as he did in that fight is remarkable to me. People thinking that there are a lot of opportunities for counters might be dissappointed because I've seen Diaz make adjustments in fights before in order to figure out ways to get to his opponent. Juan Manuel Marquez has great stamina and skill though at the end of the day, so I feel that this is going to be a great fight, as opposed to an "outclassing". We'll see.

 

Good post. I believe Diaz isn't quite getting the respect he deserves for his skills. He's not some reckless brute inside, he actually has exceptional skills which, when combined with his relentless workrate and instinct, make for a hell of an inside force. His use of angles on Katsidis was top notch, and made for one of the most clinical in-fighting displays I've seen since, well, the first Campbell fight, even though that one was much closer and we know the circumstances.

 

This one is going to boil down to work rate and in the Diaz vs Campbell fight the only reason why Campbell had so much success is because the cut Diaz had was affecting his concentration. He wasn't fighting fluently, he was just hanging in there instead of trying to boss the fight. Diaz vs Marquez will be a contest of work rate. Diaz likes to fight in close all the time, Marquez does his best work from the outside so if Diaz can draw Marquez into his fight then he may get success but I cant see Marquez fighting that style. I see Marquez taking this one on clean punches landed.

 

Diaz. I'll be surprised if the fight is anything but close but I see the fight being won in the late rounds and Marquez won't be winning those.

Marquez will take this one. He will counter Diaz's punches to a comfortable decision.

 

Very easy fight to predict. JMM clear UD, possibly a late TKO as he punishes the outclassed Juan Diaz. This wont be a mismatch because JMM is that much better, it'll be a mismatch because JMM has a great styles advantage. JMM is the best combination puncher in the game, fighting against ONE of the best combination punchers. JMM however has much more going for him, he has the edge in power, speed, defense, footwork and ring generalship. Stamina is pretty even. If JMM can survive 24 hellish rounds with Pac, im sure he can survive 12 rounds with Juan Diaz...and Juan Diaz isnt winning on points.

Its interesting though how JMM is such a strong favourite after just 1 SD loss on Juan's record. 2 years ago when JMM was still 130 and Juan was undefeated, Juan would have been a strong favourite. Always said the likes of Pac and JMM were a class above Diaz & campbell's.

Oh, again I will put some good money down on JMM for this one. Not gonna try predict the method of victory but just the winner, seems I been picking the winner lately but getting the result wrong.
