    damn right. i'm shuttering already at the thought how bad diaz is gonna get tagged cleanly by jmm and should get beat in every department, except heart. i'm hoping it goes the distance, but jmm is so versatile and as technically superior he is compared to most fighters, he does carry power in both hands. maybe a stoppage? :think we'll see

    JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ AND JUAN DIAZ TO BATTLE FOR VACANT WBA AND WBO BELTS ON FEBRUARY 28TH

    Press Release: LOS ANGELES- If fighting for the prestigious Ring Magazine and IBO World Lightweight Championship belts wasn't enough, on February 28th at TOYOTA Center in Houston, Texas, Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz will also have the vacant WBA World Lightweight Super Championship and WBO World Lightweight Championship belts on the line in their highly anticipated showdown.

    "The more championship belts for me, the better," said Marquez. "I want to unify the lightweight division and I'm excited to have the opportunity to add two more titles to my collection on February 28th."

    "The WBA title was my first championship belt that I won after beating Lavka Sim in 2004 and I was also proud to win the WBO belt after beating Acelino Freitas, so to have the opportunity to get both of my titles back, as well as the Ring Magazine belt, it's going to be a great night next weekend," said Diaz.

    The WBA and WBO titles were rendered vacant when Nate Campbell failed to make weight for his February 14th title defense against Ali Funeka.

    Marquez vs. Diaz, a 12 round bout for the WBA, WBO, IBO and Ring Magazine World Lightweight Championships and John vs. Juarez, the 12 round co-main event for John's WBA World Featherweight Championship, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate and Southwest Airlines. The world title bouts will take place on February 28th from TOYOTA Center in Houston, Texas and will be televised live on HBO's World Championship Boxing beginning at 10 pm ET / 7 pm PT.

    marquez will have his work cut out for him at first, but he will be able to deal with juan's pressure and he will eventualy start picking him off with crisp counters, aslong as his foot speed is quick enough to keep a good distance from juans forward pressure fighting

    late tko win rd 10-12 but i would not be shocked at it going on point for sure

    Dont get me wrong, I like Diaz but I have to go with Marquez by UD. It's going to be a great fight.

    Marquez. The lightweights are not a great division right now. Can you imagine a fight between the Mancini of 1982 and Marquez now?

    Only worry for JMM is hometown judging.I see a comfortable decision for Marquez but you just never know with it being in Texas

    Marquez will disect Diaz by half stepping back and countering over Diaz punches early on in the fight....

    Diaz early in the fight will have a go to test JMM's body, but he'll quickly be discouraged when he tastes the power of the Marquez uppercut (the best in the business)

    With Diaz starting to get less aggressive, I see Marquez upping the tempo and willing to mix with Diaz in spots mid rounds.....

    .....at a point in those mid rounds, is going to get to easy for Marquez. With Diaz hesitating to throw shots for fear of getting countered with shots that I feel will be moving Diaz....Marquez will become the aggressor when Diaz is unwilling to do so, and force Diaz into the ropes where imo it will just be a matter of time in the late rounds before accumulation catches up with Juan Diaz.

    There is a great difference in class here imo....and though Juan Diaz strenghths are to fight at a high workrate and stay busy throughout the fight.....he's just not going to be able to establish that vs the most versatile p4p fighter in the world, Juan Manuel Marquez!

    I'm biting the bullet again :D . . . Juan Diaz is 25 . . . JMM is 35 . . . skill wise JMM kick Juan's ass . . . but . . .

    . . . team Diaz should know by now what JMM is capable of doing and could have prepared to neutralize that . . .

    . . . Diaz by upset!
