p4p kings and HOF resume against notable opposition.

Definitely you know, champion from 87-97 is amazing. I think that pea's work from 90-97 actually edges jones work from 93-99 and might have been a better shout for fotd.

 

Oscar achieved a damn lot during the second half of the decade but I gotta go with pea here on this one.

 

the debate about marquez got me thinking, he's not the only one to be in a situation where he might have been viewed as the best by a sizeable minority despite never officially hitting number 1.

so I've broadened my spectrum a bit to have the kings and the notabkle inclusions.

I have listed the names I intend to do resume breakdowns on I believe they all spent enough time at the top and under certain circumstances were the kings in their own right.

If anyone has the relevant info that'll save me time please feel free to include it and I'll update the front page. For the sake of consistency I'm only including fighters who have been top 10 ranked by The Ring Magazine.

I'm currently watching Toney-McCallum 2 and once that finishes I'll get right on it.

the two main weapons of choice are boxrec and the ring annual rankings (also on boxrec but you find them by typing it into google). with the more recent fights it's easy to remember but with the resume building fights at the start of the careers it gets difficult so you then have to search the nearby weight divisions for each fighter pretty much.

you also have to join the dots for guys slipping into monthly ratings but back out by the year end.

 

my plan is to complete the resume's for the guys on the op, plus some extra names from the era (those who made the hof).

Once i've done that i'll begin to backdate further.

 

ok i've watched that fight now (brilliant btw) and am now gonna begin updating the resume's starting from the bottom up (Nunn)

 

I recall the calzaghe debate as well, real possibility of him hitting number 1.

I also recall after the pac/jmm 2 fight a lot of people were arguing the toss on who was the p4p king.

either way I've done the resume now for the major p4p stars from the 90's onwards.

I'm going to do the recent HOF guys I've missed off next (carbajal etc)
