If my interpretation of what a P4P list means then I do not understand why Klitschko on boxrec in number 2. If he was to fight say GGG who is 3 or Crawford who is 12 and was at there weight would he win? just my interpretation and a thought,he is good at what he dose in a very weak HW era.
Would the Heavyweight Division be considered weak if say HBO or Showtime had been running every Haye, Pulev, Povetkin, Wach, Pianeta, Thompson, Chagaev, etc match on their networks before they fought Wlad?
In my opinion the HW scene has been weak for over 10 years.the welters and middles have been by far the most competitive. In the 80/90s they were far more athletic like AJ looks now but Klitschko has fought people who look like Homer Simpson or Andre the Giant.
I think the HW division is treated a bit unfairly. Personally I consider it quite a decent division. The WW is an excellent division but I think that gets a bit over-hyped - particularly by promoters - as that's where the money fights are...
Nah that's just because its been more Euro centric than it used to be, its not as sexy a division anymore because of the lack of Lewis for you Brits and Tysons and Holyfields for us Americans. The HW Division is about the same quality wise but lacking the big personalities it used to have. WW and MW got more exposure so they seemed like a better division, because that's all the TV Channels chose to show. They showed us WW because of the more interesting characters who were more marketable to mainstream audiences, therefore to most it seems like a hot division.
You could say the same thing about Crawford, who was great in a very weak ass division, Lightweight has been bordering on horrid for the past few years,
Exactly, but he's on TV and his home crowd go crazy for him and cheer very loudly, therefore clouding the viewers understanding of just how subpar guys like Burns and Beltran really are.
You can't reign for a decade and not turn a few heads. Success is the ultimate measuring stick of greatness.
Wlad has pound for pound skills. There is not set rule on how these type of ranking work, however when a fighter loses he goes down a notch. Wlad has not lost in nearly ten years.
Putting HW's into the p4p list pretty much makes the p4p list redundant. Take WWE's Cesero for example. He's labelled as "p4p the strongest guy" The real strongest guy Mark Henry is not on that list is he?
The list has had HWs on it since it was started by RING. Why complain now? In 1989 Tyson was the P4P#1 over Chavez, Nunn, and Whitaker. From 1990-1993, Evander and Bowe were both in it regularly. So we had two HWs at once on the list. Evander returned to the list from 96-99 and peaked at #3 Lewis was rated 2000 and 02.
