Ive only seen Conteh fight live at the end of his career against Saad where he lost twice. Ive recently watched some prime stuff on youtube. Ive only seen Napoles on Youtube. Both are very smooth. To the poster's who are very familiar with these two I would like your oppinion on who would win in a P4P match up.
Don't really like p4p matches like this, too random a comparison for head to head's imo.Conteh could have been a light heavy Napoles if he had remained dedicated, as he he had the tools and physical ability, but he blew it with his out of the ring lifestyle. Napoles on the other hand is a certified all-timer.Certainly has to be rated the higher of the two, i doubt John would get into most P4P top 100's unless the criteria was slanted heavily towards head to head\peak prformance.Napoles is usually in the top 40. Another boxer who was very similar to Napoles was Rodolfo Gato Gonzalez. He may have been a great fighter as well with different breaks.Very unlucky guy imo.A real master-boxer-puncher.
Thanks appreciate the info as Im just getting into these two. Dont know why it took me this long though!
I have. It's a very good performance. He gets caught cold in the second round I believe it is, but comes roaring back as usual. The guy really did have a nasty streak, just like Napoles in that both fighters had many different gears, but were always in control.
Ive always rated Bogs aswell, thats why I was interested to how see that one panned out..even in losing efforts a man with a very decent level of technical ability and poise.
Conteh was a massive underachiever when you consider he was probably the most talented British post war fighter. His first fight with Chris Finnegan is now on youtube and well worth checking out.
