Noticed on here someone said Guzman was p4p number 1 ability wise. Just wondering what everyone elses pick is?
Its Pacquiao. people who think there is a different between the p4p best record-wise and ability-wise need to realise that a record is simply a testament to a fighter's ability. Pac is the best fighter in the world. And being the best means you have the most ability.
I agree with you on that statement only because being the most technical fighter in the world does not make you the best fighter but these guys are talking about ability and if it wasnt for pacs power his abily doesnt look all that great.
Very true I mean both fights with JMM are littered with controversy yes great fighter is pac but technically JMM is light years ahead. I know thats a bold statement but thats what I believe.
a fighter's power is a testament to his ability much like handspeed, reflexes and textbook skills. Why would handspeed count as ability but not power? Anything a fighter can bring to the table in a boxing fight is part of his ability. Also, Marquez only slightly edges Pacquiao in terms of technical ability. PAcquiao's technical abilities have always been underrated by the average boxing fan. JMM has pretty good pop and decent handspeed himself compared to the average fighter, enough so that if he was lightyears ahead of PAcquiao in terms of technical ability, he would have beaten Pacquiao easily. People need to watch Pacquiao more carefully, and pay attention to his very good technical skills.
A P4P no1 shouldnt lose to a near shot fighter, draw a fight hes knocked down a man 3 times in and get a controvesal decision in the rematch. Plus what if Sugar Ray Robinson was around today and all the best wouldn't fight him? He surely would have the best ability today would he not? He wouldn't have the best resume however.
The ability to back out a fight at the last second. He has great skills on that note. JMM is the best ability wise plain and simple!
Ability 1.Bernard Hopkins 2.Juan Manuel Marquez 3.Manny Pacquiao Current Pound-for-Pound 1.Manny Pacquiao 2.Juan Manuel Marquez 3.Bernard Hopkins IMO.
