just wanted a few opinions on 2 of my favourite boxers. a,where would you put calzaghe on an all time p4p list? b,where would you put pacquiao on an all time p4p list?
calzage should surely be higher then that?way higher i was thinking to 15 at worst!!! pac man even at present would be top ten easily(surely?)
Yes i do realize but not many who retired unbeaten ending there careers when they wanted after beating everyone who was put infront of them. the myth i think being calzage only fought bums and dodged the american greats like hopkins and jones is a joke i wonder if i asked the same question bout hopkins if he would be rated higher?!!! makes you wonder
Lots of guys who lost fights also had WAY more quality wins than Calzaghe. Undefeated records can be overrated. What matters is who you beat, and Calzaghe's quality wins simply fall short of many great fighters throughout history. Top 15 is ridiculous. And Pacquiao being top 10? He's got a ways to go. Calzaghe never ducked Hopkins. Hopkins pulled out of the 2003 fight because he was unhappy with how much money Don King was taking from the purse.
Im from England I watch alot of boxing around europe and try to watch as much american fighters as possible. What i find though is that european fighters only tend to get rated if they beat an american fighter. perfect case being when calzage schooled lacey-he then all of sudden makes the p4p rankings-but people forget he beat better fighters in the ten years before lacey! he also as far as im aware called out hopkins 4-5 years before they fought so cant be blamed for not having the quality of fighters,he was avoided.simple maybe it a perfect case of blinkers on for all european fighters and off when theres a mexican or american fighting
Yes it is. Resume and accomplishments make it that way. It's a hell lot better than your top 15 ranking:rofl
"Calling out" doesn't mean ****. What matters is negotiations. That being said, Calzaghe can't really be blamed for not fighting Hopkins in 2003, since B-Hop is the one who pulled out. None of this really is relevant to my original post, which was saying that the ranking of Calzaghe as a top 15 fighter of all-time is simply outrageous. Boxing didn't start in 1990. There's way too many fighters who've done great things for Calzaghe to even come close to being a top 15 fighter of all-time.
