No it's really not that unrealistic. There's been a lot of terrific fighters in boxing history. I'd have to do a lot more research to come up with a definitive list but a quick guess is that Calzaghe would be in the 75-100 range.
I would have him top 50 if he would have beaten Trinidad and Ottke, but he fought for cash... which if fair enough.
Lol top 15. calzaghe maybe 100-80 as people have been saying seems about right, although the ones saying outside top 100 have a point. He didnt fight the best opposition, and that hurts him in the ATG standings, as it does someone like PBF.
that is the problem with a majority of British boxing fans.... Frank Warren knows how stupid and ignorant our fans are. Hence why he gets away with matching his opposition against sub standard human beings and bill them as WOrld Championship fights(WBO+WBU (Hattons Pre tszyu career). I have always beleived (pre Froch/Haye era) that our guys get an easier ride to world title and get an even easier ride when they are world champ. Its comedians like this poster (CALZAGEH= top 15 ATG) that discredit European boxing. Calzaghe isnt even top 100. A guy whos only CREDIBLE elite win vs a 43 year old ...does not warrant being ranked above some particularly great fighters. in the top 100
I thought Kessler was a career best win for Calzaghe. Kessler may not be an ATG like B-Hop, but he was a good solid champ, undefeated, and in his prime. Calzaghe showed some nice adapability after struggling early on. Calzaghe looked terrible against Hopkins and basically won because he threw more shots within the vicinity of Hopkins, even when most of them missed.
exactly... Kessler is Calzaghes career best win....(Naseem Hamed has plently of Kessler calibre wins on his resume) is that the critera for getting into an ATG top 100???? comon...lets not lose our minds here.... hes an excellent fighter...a supremly consistant fighter for the level he faught at...we give him credit for that.... but lets not stain the HOF and what an ATG is... i
