    How you lose is important.

Alot of people thought he beat Calzaghe and Taylor.

All 3 of those fights were close.

Hopkins went neck and neck with the guy most people have as top 3 in Calzaghe and then he destroyed a top 10 guy in Pavlik.

People make too big of a deal of losses these days.

What if he was fighting superman or the judges were bent?
He has a 10 year title reign at middleweight and dominates, taking out ATG's in De La Hoya and Trinidad in the process then only loses to a good, young fighter by SD, loses another close re match which both are disputable. He jumps up 2 weight classes and knocks out the main man in Tarver, backs it up with another solid win over Wright, loses his defence against Supermiddleweight King Calzaghe by SD in a very close fight which many had him winning then completely batters and schools the undisputed, undefeated middleweight king, oh and at the age of 43. If that isn't worthy of being ranked pound for pound I don't know what is. Wasn't even worth wasting my time explaining.

They mean f**k all.....put it this way if Manny loses his next fight JMM will probably be the top guy.But Chris John an unbeaten fighter who actually beat him isn't even mentioned, lol. Its picked by too many Latin Americans and Americans and not enough 'experts' from the rest of the world

Agreed there seems to be alot of an Anti-English attitude from the other side of the water

B-Hop fought Oscar 5 years ago and Trinidad 8 years ago!!!

Shall we bring back Ali for a few fights and call him a P4P fighter.

I hear what you say about the manner of the defeats he has suffered, but they are defeats none the less. Also only knocking out 1 in the last 10 fighters is not really P4P status is it?

I would like to see a few experts from UK picking a top ten, people like Bunce,Barry M and maybe the head of Setanta boxing or Sky,see what they come up with.

When you see the list of the panel picking the rankings for Ring Magazaine its a hell of alot of Latin Americans and guys like the head of HBO boxing

Bernard is still beating top opposition and hanging with the best of them today, has never been battered. They are defeats none the less but I couldn't care when ranking fighters pound for pound and if the best boxer outboxed everyone without knocking them out then how would they not be worthy?
